So, after lot of reading and following RDD for so many years. I finally took a step forward and bought a RDD Digital CDI for RX135. Since we were expecting the deliveries it got delayed a little bit. But never mind, got the RDD CDI and I was all so excited to put that in. The very next day of getting the delivery, I took the CDI, the plug cap to my local mechanic and as he has promised earlier that he will fix the CDI. I took the cdi to him along with Guidelines which Nitesh provided. He advised to keep the bike with him, I had another bike for my daily commutes so leaving the bike with him was no problem. After a week I went to him to check the progress, After the RDD CDI install the rx would simply stall. And it kept stalling. The mechanic asked for one more week and provided another week. For wiring instructions took help from Ron, Nitesh and another local guy here who runs a garage and is electrical engineer. After a week I went back again to my Mechanic, he advanced the timing by 4 degree and after starting bike would still stall but had a horrific brutal acceleration as if it will blow itself off. There was an expansion chamber lying around in the garage and did fit that too. Everything was good and bike seemed ready but the stalling problem just won't go rechecked all wiring and had rdd advised I had a new RXG wiring harness. Another week went but it will still stall, finally told my mechanic to fix the original cdi remove the chamber and put the OEM exhaust and put the bike together. By this time I had lost patience but I knew something is not right with the way it is being installed. So I messaged ron again and asked for someone who can do it in Mumbai/Pune, Ron referred to JC Moto Mumbai, Josh Castro, a very nice and down to earth guy. I finally made up my mind to travel to mumbai on the rx. I went to mumbai it took me 5 hours to reach mumbai because I would often bring the phone out of my pocket and refer to google maps for directions to JC moto. Reached around the Noon and I watched the CDI install myself. There was a wire which wasn't grounding properly as it was on a rusted screw which connected to chassis. The install was simple and neat, the bike started fired up well, and it would still stall. With all the works of advancing the timing to 2 degree drilling holes and etc it was already dark at 19:00 hours. I was taking it out for a test and again the stalling issue started. I told josh to keep the bike and I would come on a later day. I was scared if the bike breaks up on my way to pune and it stalls it would be a big problem so I decided the keep the bike with Josh. Day 2 I called up josh and he told its fixed, he has rich the fuel mixture it was running lean previously. After 2 days I went to collect my bike in Mumbai, Did few runs and it didn't ever stall. I was quite happy. Started my journey towards pune and it never stalled throughout the journey. It took a lot of time but in the end, well worth all of the hardwork. Big Thanks to Ron, Josh and Nitesh for all the help and support.
Its been a week I am riding it, and very happy with the performance so far. What I noticed is my RX vibrates significantly less than before. I am not sure it is property of the Digital. Performance wise I feel the mid range goes ballistic. I cannot provide numbers but the feel is very good. It definitely works and in lot of ways work better than OEM CDI. The Mileage also increased by fair bit, I measured the Mileage at 36kmpl with speedo standing constantly at 80kmph. The same on OEM CDI was around 25ish. Thanks to everyone, specially Ron for just a fantastic product. I hope I can get the Chinoy Filter filter and Jets now.
RDD CDI, a job very well done
