Dead battery to spare

Post by pythonbeg »

Hello all,

Excellent forum here. I'm looking to build a mod which is run off wall power. I plan to use an Ego battery or some such, remove the actual battery and stick the leads of a variable power supply into it and connect an RDA, but I don't have any batteries that I'm able to dismantle right now. Does anyone have a spare dead battery with 510 threading? Will post photos if it happens.

Thanks for the link, but looks like that can only drive up to 1.5 ohms at 3V. Looking for something that can pump at least 25W. Maybe I'll buy it and take it apart, using it only as a switch.

Well I'm an electronics engineer by qualification so I'm trying to put some of that to use :). I'm planning to get a standard 12V/5A power adapter, a buck converter like this one -https://www.fasttech.com/products/1005/ ... egulator-m. Then get an aluminium enclosure and stick a 510 connector on it. Fasttech is an amazing site, wish it had been around when I started tinkering.

Technically speaking, you only need something like the fan regulator for this since it is an I2R load. That would be a very efficient solution. But full line voltages are a little scary. :)

Yep. I could start vaping with some nichrome, cotton, a USB adapter and some juice. But I want to start trying different wattages without blowing a load of cash on mech/regulated mods. Ideally I would want to try up to 30 watts. The problem with wall power, of course is that it is very hard to pull 30A over 3V DC without doing some design myself. So sub-ohm coils are out of the question. I don't mind that so much, 30W is 30W whether it is 3.7V to a 0.5ohm coil or 9V to a 3ohm coil.

You can buy DC-DC step up variable Voltage Variable current from Ebay India.
We have been playing around with these boards. Some of them can put out 80 watts. From a regular 12 Volt bat.

At one time I thought of doing a 80 watt mod. But now every tom dick and harry is doing 100 watt so its lost its charm.
Then I thought of doing a 1500 Watt mod with the a/c power supply. (Geaser coil). It gets too absurd after a point.
Am happy vaping my mechanical mod. Nothing but a bat and a switch.

Dont waste your time with ego s/w and 510 connector. Because the switch it self will fail.
Instead Buy an ego 510 connector from Baba Vapes or FT. SOlder wires to it from a high amp s/w and start your project on a stronger footing.

Is there any way to contact you other than WhatsApp? Don't use it for personal reasons. Sent you an email a while back too.
