Hi Guys,
How is everyone doing. This is Shree Mahan from Bangalore(H.A.L). I apologize for never posting an intro since I joined. Better late than never. So here it is
Name: Shree Mahan
Nick name: shree
Work Exp: 6 years(IT Support/Administration)
Age: 28
Bikes: Suzuki Samurai, Suzuki Shogun and currently an 85' HT
Other Hobbies: I'm a lil bit of climber(our very own Kanteerava, turahalli, savandurga, etc, etc) and cycling(trail-6)
Here's how my story began:
2004/5: Wanted to buy a 350. Ran short by 8k and picked up a shogun(you will not believe the prices of 350's back then, the senior members would be well aware of that ). Idea was to keep the Shogun, save up and then buy the 350 which I wanted to be the first bike I wanted to own from my own pay.
So, the story began. I take time, save up and go back to my contacts for the RD's. Guess what? the prices have shot up(doubled). I'm like WHAT!. I save up again coz I fell short(took time again). I go back, now they were quoting in lakhs. I was like, are you friggin kidding me. I was literally pulling my hair out and kept telling myself I should've put my Ego aside and borrowed that extra 8k from my folks back in '04. By now I had restored my Shogun to the Factory specs(went solo after all the hungama with the mechs in and around town - "If you want something done right: Do It Yourself" is what I ended with). Finally had to Sell off my beloved shogun and finally I made sure I dint run short of the moolah and got the monster home this Valentine's

Hi Shree,
Welcome to RDD. Hope you get your bike running well and enjoy your stay here. So many years of love for the bike, that's great to see. Glad you finally found RDD and hope RDD helps you get your bike right and enjoy it like i have done. Please tell us the story of the Shogun and how it came out before you decided to sell it for the RD. There are folks here with tons on Shogun parts and who knows, the person you sold it to may be here as well
You have been the first, I think, to mention "Turhalli" on this group. It's been more than a couple of decades since I went climbing there... How does one go about getting on the wall @ Kanterava ? I'm looking forward to doing that this summer. Will send you a "PM" on that
Cheers

Re: Hi Guys..
Welcome to the club.
Bike that look very clean cosmetically scare me the most.
Exp. has taught me that if it looks like a bomb. The insides are a can of worms for sure.
But I could be wrong. Enjoy the bike. Enjoy your stay here.

Re: Hi Guys..
thanks guys
@mukund: at Kanteerava(the climbing wall), things have changed now. I'll PM you the details. wrt the shogun, procuring the engine components was a major challenge(the clutch bell, the crank, the cylinder kit, etc, etc). All the time and money paid off eventually once she was completed and she ran like a dream(man i do miss the way she revved and the exhaust note ) Let me stop here. I'll end up with long stories if I start.. lol.. i found a few pics:

@ron: Hi Ron . well, you are right. The looks apart - She's running on the most dreaded contact breaker system at the moment. Having a tough time keeping her timed right(every long ride and she's out of sync - using a dial gauge and a multi-meter at the moment). She is struggling to cross the 140(-3 speedo error when compared with the speedo on a 390) in the current condition and kind of bogs down at WOT 6th gear (fuel starvation? not sure for now). Will be posting more on a new thread on this.
Major Reason for shortlisting this one was clean papers, the OE components(inside and out) and was bought from a close friend who'd seen me fight through these years to get a decent one.
I owe rddreams a lot for all the knowledge I have gained and the members who have helped me since I joined. Looking forward to meeting the group members and to live the dream as long as age/time permits
cheers guys
