On 14-04-2010 i received the Black box, needless to say what it is, ever since that day the frustration was killing me to install it and simultaneously rectified all minute niggles with the bike and today was the judgment day...schedule with the mech and this mech is about 40 KM from my place, so today we started at 9:30 AM. first the wire harness was replaced..not that the old one was bad but just to clear the doubts...next the new OEM RR unit was replaced and the old one... into the gutter. so next removed the Head and put a new set of Absorbers or rubber and at last Carb cleaning was done. All electrical spec were next confirmed..everything Ok, and its about 12:45....now one thing i did not have was Activa plug CAP .. and the HONDA Service station is about 2 K's ....so i rush and reach at their place...TADAAAAAAAA......guess what ..sorry all the plug CAPs are over...WTF...WTF...WTF...and i run around for other local spare shop...all of them have activa plug cap..yeah..plenty of them but not by HONDA but by the Greatest Manufacturer of the World and i know all of you must have guessed it, yeah..SWISS..Who the F**K is the owner of this SWISS company...all yamaha spare parts are duplicated by this BAST**D. . But the worse is yet to go BAD...now i have clear idea of how to install it..all i need is the plug and on my way back to home ( along SAD journey) there is another HMSS...now its about 2:00PM, and they open at 3:00PM, so i wait for an hour...and we all all noe, in INDIA it is not as it seems...what i mean is that ..what was supposed to open at 3:00 PM opened at 3:30 PM..and guess what ...TADAAAAAAAA..no plug caps......Frustrated ..Hungry and tired..... another 5 K's of journey...Home. Now got to get a plug CAP and i am almost there......
During this entire SAGA..one thought was constantly Floating in my mind..."Hope this is worth it".
Next post when i install it....and hope there is no more..TADAAAAAAAAA....

Re: Chasing a horizon..Almost there
Here it goes…so finally bought an Activa Plug cap and Installed the CDI…Finally ….. prayed …I kick start the bike…...khad khat….khadkat…khadak kat..after the fifth attempt…realized that the ignition key is in off position….nervously turned it on…so now again..khadkat….khad…..Bhur…bhur..rrr….with slight throttle..bhurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.aaaaaaaaaaooooooooooo…...bhurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.aaaaaaaaaaooooooooooo
Ohh gosh….i realized the first major difference right there… with the first slight throttle…..it roared out loud….with few more throttle…………...bhurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.aaaaaaaaaaooooooooooo………....bhurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.aaaaaaaaaaooooooooooo. ………..time to retune the Carb..and adjusted the throttle and Air screw……my next impression was the way the bike idles….the silencer beats harmonically…like the sound of a pendulum clock …Tik tok….Tik tok… Tik tok….Tik tok… Tik tok….Tik tok… Tik tok….Tik tok….and will continue till it falls short of petrol.
Now next… took it for a ride around….the ride was totally different from the stock CDI….there’s a good pull at low rpm and then it continues to impress in the mid range and further in the Top range and during the entire ride, there is smooth stress free revving… that is what makes this RDD CDI unique..it feels as though the power band is shifting as you throttle…. and I have not timed the bike..(And with this performance ...I don’t plan to time it)…as of now I can say it definitely improves the power generating ability of the bike at all RPM’s and other benefits such as emission drop and mileage are yet to be checked. ….hey I forgot to mention the most important point…the Engine runs much cooler as compared to the previous stock CDI ……
I shall post the mileage when I’ll go for a trip…..Hey is there a need to up jet the carb or any other thing to be done to support or further improve the performance flanked with CDI ( without timing)….i have no idea…. Can anyone kindly…suggest or advice????
PS: Before installing the CDI, i took a lot of care to bring the bike to a platform, at which installing the CDI and running it would be trouble free.(checking all……. resistances……….connections …….replacements..…blah..blah…). so please don’nt be under the impression that you can just buy one and install and then loot the benefits out of it (unless you have constantly maintained the bike in proper condition…or you may have to sweat to get it right or worse end up with a hole in the pocket and piston). ..Best way is to read the archives in the forum and if required get actively involved in the forum…all of them are helpful…….there’s no harm is asking when you don’t know
