Local Mechanic wants an RDD CDI + Filter + Jet

Post by mukund »

Hi Ron,

Congratulations Ron. I have been patiently waiting for the day my mechanic would call me for the RDD CDI kit and goodies for a bike he is building.

The day I had the RDD CDI installed on my bike, I still remember the typical reaction - "Saar you have too much money and you want to blow it on this bike. Why do you want all this new ignition and stuff ?" I persisted and he had come up to Ron's place and finally got the install done and was blown away with the way the bike ran. Once the install was done, I asked him if he agrees that the bike is running way way better. He grudgingly acknowledged the fact that the bike was running far better and said "Saar the problem with your bike was actually the pipe from old the air filter to the carbs was blocked" (I could understand that it was his pride which was in the way). "Anyway saar enjoy your bike" is what he had said. He has been around on the RD scene in Bangalore from many many years. He was the chief mechanic at Pacer Auto way back when they were on Church Street in the late 80s. An unfortunate accident in the garage took away one of his eyes. He still is popular as the "Tuner" and me with many of my RD friends swear by his skill of tuning points and carbs especially on RDs.

Then when I met him a few months later, I asked him if he is recommending the product to any of his customers ? He said yes he would recommend it to for anyone who asked. Few days later, I bugged him to come and check out the install done on the RXs. He came over and it was only then he came to know that the goodies are available for the RXs too.

Being far away from the internet and its usage, the traditional Phone Call came from Mr. One Eyed Jack (No name taking here) this morning asking for how to contact you and get a kit and goodies. I asked him about who it was for and he said there was a chokra boy who used to work in his garage and this boy has now become and man and has started his own garage. When the man was talking to his guru about the grand desire of setting up a fast race bike, Mr. One Eyed Jack instantly told him to get the Chinoy Kit on his bike with filter and jets. I have told him that he is welcome to check out my bike and when you are ok Ron, I can get him to meet up with you.

Hope RDD will help this poor man realise his dream of getting the best things fit on his RX.

Cheers

Awesome. Finally persistence is paying off.
Never compromise. Not even in the face of Armageddon.

None of you understand. I'm not locked up in here with you. You're locked up in here with me.

Sounds good babab.
Its is only thru the blessings of Friends and well wishers like you that RDD is still running today.
Pride is a big problem with these guys.
They have to realize that the only reason I do this is because I love two strokes and I want to see two strokes get the same benefits the four jokes have been getting from improved tech and R&D.
To vilify a great man is the readiest way in which a little man can himself attain greatness.

=D> Nice to hear that the guy opened his vision and thinking in broader way, still many mechanics swear by "Woriginal Points" and they feels that CDI is for them who dont know how to time the points and wants trouble free bike, they dont understand dynamic curve and even i dont like to discuss where their minds are blocked by points.Forget these uneducated fellows even many well qualified RD owners swear by points and if you talk about CDI they pull another kit which is famous among RD mechanics in Bangalore, i am sure soon the picture will change and people will realize what RDD CDI is and what other CDI's are.
I am open to give a complete test with my bike that how she performs with and without RDD goodies.
