Smoking Cherry goes RDD

Post by behzad »

Finally managed to find time to install the RDD CDI on my RX100. Rohit Arora from Kumar Auto installed it for me.

At first we didnt fiddle with the timing... He did have a few reservations about advancing the timing and he was a lil busy so we left the timing as it was.
The motor was really smooth and she would rev real high. There was a noticeable difference in the way she would pull from standstill. A strong pull as you gently twist your wrist. Yet there was a bit of a flat spot in the mid range before it got into high RPM. Overall it was really smooth n enjoyable to ride.

But then the hunger for more took over and i pestered rohit to time it for me. Now this time I was busy running around getting things in place for RMX so I couldnt be with him when he did it. Its not running 24degs as recommended but much less. Anything more n we were experiencing detonation. So we ve kept it at what we have for now. The first reaction was a nice :D smile :D when I came back from a lil test ride on the highway. Acceleration through the gears is really nice. The motor however feel a lot harsh at high revs.... now I m not much for wheelies I dunno how to pop em n even if I did, I wouldnt do that to my bikes.... but the other day I was riding out from my office parking lot which is in the basement and front wheel did pop up as i powered up at the exit of the ramp...

Also when I pull too hard in first (I did once to test its limits n second to confirm it) I get a weird drop in acceleration.... is this just the drop in torque after peak RPM? never pulled any motor this hard ever. :-k

So far I am really glad i got the RDD CDI. =D> \:D/ :1syellow1: .. however I would like it if someone who has worked with this before could just go through my installation and re check it for my peace of mind.

So RON what should I try out next? Chinoy filters n jets?
BTW I did inquire about converting a 100 to a 135 and most people said there is no guarantee that the conversion would be perfect..... so what else could we do to a RX100?

Get the RDD filters and you would begin to experience more fun from your machine.

RX100-135 is tricky and involves a lot of cost, have done that to my machine. Better buy a RX135 straight of the line instead of conversion.

The RDD CDI is one of Indias first true performance product.
Feed back like this just confirms it for me.
People who dont see the benefits are just plain lying thru their teeth.

Dude next stage
Jet up. Or go rich on the needle at least. The gas you feed it the more power it makes.
Then off course get the filter kit.

Converting to 5 speed is easy peasy if you have a good mech.
Install RXG con rod 1K-1.5K install RXG top end. Or get a malaysian top end and then install a RDD head with it.
Your looking to spend 10K in total for the conversion.

If you sell your RX and can buy a RXZ its the best bet.
RXG5 speed is light years ahead of the RX100. Also benefits seen by adding the CDI is most on the RD350, then RXG135 and least on RX100.
As the cc goes up the gains from the RDD Digital go up.

This batch of filters are sold out.
Which RXC we did so many. The Pune bike, the Goa bike the Bangalore bike ? the track bike? the street bike.
Yeah a 165 or better still 200 cc big bore would be cool.
