Pollution Figures with the digi RDD CDI II version.

Post by wheelsonfire »

I got my cdi way back in early 2006. This was the RDD Digital II. Nowdays the digital III is avaliable.

The bike I had at that time was having issues with the paper work. I did install the cdi but could not ride the bike around. In short the CDI was not put to good use.

Finally on the 11th of May this year I installed the CDI. Yesterday I took the bike out for the first time for the PUC certificate.

Like all 2 strokes the bike was smoking. It was the first time that the bike was out. I slowly rode to the PUC service station. Frankly the bike was not riding great but thats a different story.

The PUC guy made me idle the bike for more than 10 minutes then told me to reduce the idling speed. While this was going on I asked him what was the problem? why was it taking that long? He said ' Monoxide dikha nahin raha' His reading was 0.00 at that time. He then went about cleaning his equipment and then put it back togeteher. Finally he got a figure of around 0.2 for CO. He was surprised and somewhat shocked. I had to explain him that CO and smoke are different things . CO is colorless. Somehow convinced him and got the certificate.

I believe euro 2 limit is 0.5 for CO. So I believe the bike is now euro 2 complaint and thats a big big achievement for a bike 35+ years old in design. With your one product Ron Sir the bike can theoretically be once again put to production.

Sir u should be awarded by the environmentalist's.
I can put up a scanned version of the PUC certificate if any one wishes.

Regards
Bikram

Yes please put up a scaned version.

I had a dream that my Ignition would get used on Auto Rickshaws all over India as they are the bigest poluters in India.
In fact I have to see my youngest daughter suffer with Asthma because of the high polution levells.

Ever tried giving nublizer to a 6 month old babby ?

Ah well this is India man. Nobody gives a shit about anything unless its something you can copy, or something you can line some politicans pockets with. To top it off you have total dick wads who dont know the abc's of Ignitions arguing static is better.
Posts like your just get me depressed man.

You are allowed a value of arround 2.5 right.
Points RDs put arround 2.2 so a drop to 0.2 is quite good.

On the smoke issue its just excessive oil.
In fact 90% of the times the reading on the gauge is zero but the operator refuses to release a certificate with a value of zero. So they play with the equipment or raise the idle speed till they get some reading.

Same thing happened to somebody in Bangalore who tried getting a reading.

Excuse the language, but this is fu*%ing criminal. We get such a large hue and cry raised about, pollution levels in cities with hours upon hours of media time given to jokers who pay lip-service to these issues. None of these clueless flucks realise that with such a CDI on auto ricks like Ron says would go a LOOONG way in improving the air quality in cities.

Member after member report the same results but this man does not get his credit that's due. In a different country he would have been feted and would have become rich off the royalties from such a product.

Even if the powers that be could find the inclination to grant at least an experiment as a case study in say one city for three months and maybe monitor pollutant levels with some kind of datalogging - I feel there could be a drastic drop in pollutant levels in that city as shown by those air quality reports on the evening news reports. Maybe that would at least make people sit up and notice?

Sorry about the rambling folks - I just feel bad that in spite of such a winning product none of us are able to do anything to make the world notice...

Bikram, pick up some Motul. Run that.
And congratulations on getting the RD back on road. If you need any help in further setting it up, please drop by.
So another CDI install in Chandigarh. Good. You need that pollution certificate in that city for sure.

As I said before, India doesn't give a shit about emissions. It only pretends to.

Just arriving at Bangalore airport disgusts me. The stench of LPG fumes is overpowering.

Great work on getting the RD back where she should be, Bikram. Restore her slowly and get her up to the performance level that satisfies you. ;-)

Superb Documentry by Al-Gore on Global warming.

Like he says.

"It is Deeply Unethical for us to not address this issue and take it seriously"
He is referring to the rising CO2 levels.

Watch it it was on at 5:30 PM today.

Prefer to
be broke and know what value the world / market puts to my product
Than be broke and have somebody else profit from my work.

yea i suppose. but my suggestion is that at the very least you try to patent the RDD stuff. remember you aren't raju roadside mechanic who is selling some home made gizmo... i'm guessing that since you sell online to other countries, if someone decides to copy the CDI kit, and probably patent it before you do then that should legally prevent you from selling right?

I once meet a patent lawyer.
He told me.
If you want your ideas to be copied the fastest way is to try and patent it.

When you put in a Patenet application. Before even the file hits the desk. Copies are made and sent off to all the auto majors.
The guy faxing them the copies gets 500 bucks per page.
This is India.
I do not have the funds to file a US patent.
