Hello From Sikkim

Post by Puffdamgcdragon »

Hello People,

I'm new here. My name is Wongchuk and I'm based at Gangtok, Sikkim. I've been hanging around this site for quite some time now but only decided to post today. A lovely site U have got here. Highly Appreciate it.

I've owned several bikes right from School and college days, mostly Bullets, an occasional RX and even a Vespa scooter ( I was in a highly confused state at that time), but the one memory I'll forever cherish is that of the Rd (LT) I owned about 8-9 yrs ago at Delhi. It was the one most vivid and intoxicating experience and no other bike since has come close to duplicating the feeling of Euphoria of riding the Mad beast..

Unfortunately it got stolen from my front porch and for months afterwards, i went around mopping like a family member had died.

Since then, I've been riding "sensible" bullets and every time I hear the distinctive Roar of the Rd or smell the unique burnt smell of the two stroke oil, my hairs stand on end and i get all wistful and nostalgic.

Now, I just sold off my eight Bullet 350 CI, bought a new KarizmaR and am riding it around. I bought the Karizma coz I was getting fed up with the slow and "stately" experience of the bullets I'd owned and wanted something a bit faster and sporty and also gave me peace of mind but am really not happy with it. It seems perfect in every way, looks nice, rides well, has decent acceleration, great handling, snappy brakes, gives fantastic fuel efficiency and doesn't require any maintainence but now after having owned it for a month, I'm bored and sick of it. Seems i made a very expensive mistake.

It has neither the charm and personality of the Bullets (one of the few things going for the marque), nor the performance and feeling of wetting-the-pants exuberance of the Rd I once owned.

Actually i really, really wanted to get an Rd but it was too much trouble sourcing a decent one from Delhi with clean, transferable papers. I also didn't have the time, patience and immediate cash to get one built from a scratch as one good friend, Ashwini- Chotu- Rana ( Some of u guys may know him) wanted to do for me. He does a pretty decent job of building Rds from scratch.

Now, i've come to the conclusion that soon, real soon I'll get rid of this new piece of plastic appliance, scratch around for some cash and get myself a good Rd.

I'm fully aware of the trouble I'm gonna have maintaining the machine here in these outer edges of the galaxy. (There's a total of 3 somewhat-running Rds in my town and a lot of old ones rusting by, some sold as Kabbari) but the thrill of riding and owning a good one will be worth it.

I hope to get as much info as possible from all of U and maybe even source a good bike down the line? Keeping my fingers crossed...

Cheers Guys,
Puffy.

Welcome mate. Don't lose heart yet. Some of the best stock bikes I saw were from the far east.
