Hi all, Aneesh here
Hi all, Aneesh here
Been lurking around for a few months now, trying to understand what you guys are talking. Yeeeesss.... lurkers are not welcome, but I also understood that it would be better to be around, try and understand some bare basics and then post, instead of being an annnnnnoying "noobie" who wants to know eeeeeverything…… from a single post !!!........!!!!!!!!.
And the story:
….( the usual story! ) Right from my school days( late 80’s), I was very much interested in bikes.Used to draw pictures of dad’s bike and also knew the Indian bikes by the names (ax, rx, kb, cd etc ) when no one in my class knew!!!….hehehe…..
……….was in class 10 (1998), when I heard rumors about a 350 cc yamaha!.An eyewitness said it had ttttwoooo engines!!!! twoooo silencers!!!!. and a growling sound!!!. RDs being rare and I stay in suburban chennai, where I have only spotted two RDs till now.
……..Got into college in 2000.Don’t remember when I saw one. But fell in love with this bike for its growling exhaust note. Couldn’t help dreaming about owning one. But was taken back by the mileage figures!.
……….but nobody stops me!!( from dreaming of course ), had a cool idea: run it on one cylinder with LPG. You’ll miss the exhaust note, but can have an affordable RD for commuting!. Mileage, looks and sound = big time posing being the prime concern, I even thought of a bajaj boxer (ct100 now) with full fairing, clip ons, big tyres and dalda dabbas(sexy!!)………Thank god my dad’s not rich!, or I would have wasted his money on my dumb ideas.
Gradually understood that an RD is a performance bike not meant for regular commuting and my innovative ideas! wont work.
……..and yeah, it is 20 year old technology,..
harmful to the atmosphere,….
doesn’t look neat from some angles!,….
spares are expensive and hard to come,….
And grapes are SOUR!!!
So ditched my idea of buying an RD FOR NOW.
From dream to reality:
End of 2005, made enough money to buy a used bike. Was looking for an RX 100.Got myself an RX135 5 speed in fairly good condition. I’m the third owner.
Joined RDD in the end of March. Even though I don’t understand( but I will try my best) the technical things that you guys discuss here, some basic stuff like fitting the pulsar disc on the RX has been really helpful, I got the same fitted on my bike.
Me!
I am 23 years old. Currently working as a 3D visualiser for a group of architects in Chennai.
Having no technical knowledge and not being a performance geek, you will most likely spot me on the cosmetics section!
Planning of a new swingarm and mono shocks(cosmetics!!!!).Please be ready to answer my queries!!!
