RD goes Digital
Just completed 500 kms post the CDI kit install. My experience:-
Initial:-
Got the stuff I ordered after what seemed like an eternity of waiting.
Anyways, it can only get better now, I said to myself.
(Also noticed the impressive parts quality)
Took the bike n Kit to my trusted mechanic. He too liked the kit and had no problem in hooking up the kit since according to him Suzuki wiring code was used.
Extremely nice thought Ron. Using wires and couplers from existing Indian bikes is a brilliant idea indeed and makes the process of installation a hell lot easier.
Getting to the point, install was a breeze. Then in went the Chinoy Filter pods and then rejetted the carb to the largest main and pilot jets, as provided by Ron.
Ride observations:-
Bike feels smoother over all especially at the top end. Now revs to around 9k rpm. (on points was around 8.5k).
Acceleration in 1st and 2nd gear is almost like before. The difference, however, is noticeable from 3rd gear onwards and more noticeable in the higher I go on gears.
Earlier started to lessen from 3rd gear onwards. Not anymore. Bike keeps pulling nicely with noticeably more and more pull than before as the gears keep shifting.
Earlier the bike would be totally dead below 3.5k revs on the top gear. Now it purrs forward from around 2k with no jerks or anything. Just smooth pickup. And post 5k till 9k, it pulls real hard. Nice.
The engine is heating up almost as much as before which probably means I’m running too advanced or slightly lean or both. But still, the difference is that the bike doesn’t seem to loose power after extended high speeds like it used to after heating up when on the Points.
Gas mileage is up by A LOT. My “ride her like you stole it” figures are as much as the “granny mode” figures earlier. And that is probably the best compliment I can give to the kit. Very Impressive.
Head light beam has also improved tremendously. Right now the beam intensity on direct connection is still A LOT more than on battery earlier. Very impressive again.
Over all. All I can say is that the kit is definitely money’s worth.
Bike is lot more fun than before and the Chinoy Filter growl only adds to it…hehe.
Bottom Line:-
You DO get what you pay for. I am happy. Probably so much that I’m ordering another. yaahooo…

Lucky You
RE: RD goes Digital
Your second unit should ship in a few days.
Your feedback has forever changed my view of Panjabies.
TO be honest I thougth oh no a Panjabi from Jalander ordering the kit. Bound to be a headache for me.
There are going to be 101 stupid questions and problems.
But turns out you guys are a lot smarter than some of the so called Expert Mechanics down south.
My compliments to your mech. You have a Gem there be nice to him and give him a big hug and bala bala from my side.

RE: RD goes Digital
Let you guys in on an insider joke in the Bangalore Club.
You can tell the IQ of your mech. By judging how they install the RDD CDI kit.
And their reaction to it.
If they say its a quality bit of kit.
If they install it easilly. And most importantlly of all they get the bike runing to the customers Joy and satisfaction.
They are pretty smart.
If they cant get the bike to run. Cant get their head arround the fact that dynamic timing is a good thing. ANd they keep harping for you to revert to stock then your in trouble friend. More than the fact that they are really lost.

RE: RD goes Digital
Update:-
Bike is running strong as ever. Cheers!
P.S.>> The wires came marked with a marker pen. All of it is faded. I'd really appreciate if I could get wiring codes for this. I think this is the Digital 2.
