how I installed my Digi CDI II
I see many posts about difficulty in installing the Digi II CDI.
This is how I got it done.
I went to the machanic who services my bike. He finished all other work and waited for me to come with the CDI details.
First took a print out from one of Ron's earlier post on the install instructions. here it is for you again
As you can see the wire groups are divided up into 4 diffirent lengths.
Longest wire Orange +12 Volts to power CPU.
White= Pulsar
Orange= Sourc
HT Coil Bunch.
2xBlack with yellow stripe +VE to ht Coil
2x Green earth
1x Green to Frame.
Control Bunch (Shortest Bunch)
Orange = Tacho out.
Blue= Wated on off
White= Static Curve mode.
Best to leave all wires in the shortest bunch un-conected.
With all the wires open default mode is no wasted spark and curve mode.
specific items you should have with you
Allways use resistor plug caps. 5 Kilo Ohms.
Pulser rating 70-80 Ohms.
Where ever posible use bullet connectors so it is easy for you to disconnect to check anything later.
removed the petrol tank, removed the old HT Coils & old CDI
removed all unwanted wires. also removed the magneto cover.
disconnected the pulser wires from all connections and checked the ratings with a multi meter ( the value should be 70-80 Ohms ) and connected back
Fixed the new HT coils with good grounds. Dont ask me which brand. Please ask Ron, as I do not want to give out specific information unless he is OK with it.
fixed new plug caps (remember 5 Kilo Ohms) to the HT coil
fixed the CDI (after wrapping it in good plastic to protect the open Chip) near the air box ( I had removed the stock air box for Chinoy Filter pods )
Connected the wires of the Digi CDI II exactly as given in the picture.
All Greens are earths. And good grounding is critical.
Power to the CDI (longest Orange wire on the CDI) was connected to the Indicator flasher. This makes sure that electrical power reaches the CDI only if we turn on the ignition key.
I left all the control wires (ref the pic) as it is. That is did not do anything with it. Just used insulation tapes at the ends to make sure that nothing get shorted accidently. and bunched them tougether.
The bike was initially timed with 22.5 deg (I think, dont remember correctly now) . while taking out coil kit, I made sure to mark the positions with permanent marker to fix them back the same way.
Connected everything else back, and second kick, the bike came alive.
Note:
this is specific to Digi CDI II
Specific to Indian RD
One suggestion:
By selecting the Digital CDI, you have selected the best CDI that is available for RD. Pls dont compromise small items quality specifically
things like plug caps and pulser coil.
Hope this will help anyone who is going to install the Digi CDI II. Just make sure you print the details while connecting the wires.

On the Digital CDI, White Female = Wasted Spark off when shorted to green ? So if we leave it untouched (open) wasted spark is on?

We have NOT touched the optional wires at all... i just asked because when we installed the CDI, the bike started up regardless of whether the HT cables were swapped or not.

I would like to say that apart from telling how to intall in text form , you can make a video film of the installation process to help someone installing himself. You can burn a CD and give with the CDI or make a file available online for download.
I hope i am not making a stupid suggestion.

Enough and more info is available here. really do you think this is a necessary? if someone cannot make out what to do from these posts well a video will not help either....I hope i am not making a stupid suggestion.

Actually, maybe I'm just dense (given) but I had a lot of trouble finding the instructions Ron directs to above. I agree the video sounds a bit extreme, but maybe a "sticky" post giving the link or an obvious link from the eindiancompanies site is not a bad suggestion. By the way, just got my kit and can't wait to get it on!

I also dont know zit about electronics .The video is a good idea actually.Would make the product more professional

A video sounds like a good idea!
Anyone who has seen the video on reparing the F650 will know what I am talking about! Even a simpelton like feels confident to open things I had never known existed on a bike!

You know people will allways find something to complain about.
Complaining about a lack of documentation is fine by me. Better this than something else.
Its not like even a single customer in 6 years hasnt had instant access to me 24x7 thru this forum.
Or that they havent finally found all the documentation they need.
Its not like you need to jugle & mate 3 plates in just the right way to get it mounted.
Its got one single plate with 3 screws to bolt on.
Each and every wire is now color coded and hand labeled.
Foregin members should e-mail their details like forum ID to have access to support forums.
If you bought it thru John he will make sure the forum ID is linked up.
If you inform me by e-mail chinoy@indiawebworks.com we can have it activated.
This is a very old post.

you keep making things simpler and simpler..
and ppl will start comin up with stupider and stupider questions..
i've not done it myself.. but i'm supprised at the difficulty ppl are havin.. a bunch of wires.. at the right places..
but like i said.. i havent done it.. so wont comment furthur.
