ron these r pics of the plug..sorry if they rnt too clear...ignore the oil around the plug since oil was leaking frm the exhaust port and the spark plug hole as well ... got that sorted by replacing the gasket at the exhaust port...

Weird. Despite the fact that I took the photos, I didn't quite catch that white electrode. I think you're running a bit lean Alroy.

Advanced the timing today...moved the pulsar by 2.3mm....after advancing the timing took the bike for a short burst...came back...knocking and fluttering (knees and hands :D).....the bike dint feel sluggish at all....thoroughly enjoyed myself till about 8:00 pm... the bike just stopped and wouldhnt start...the kicker was going down but a wierd mettalic sound would come frm somewhere near the gearbox when the kicker was pushed down...there was compression...

turned out the guy hadnt tightened the nut that held the drum ...thank god rohit was with me....thanx a million man i dont know ill ever be able to repay u for all the help uve given me...rohit fixed it up...could start the bike and road back home very slowly as the nut had been tightened by hand...that was a very nightmarish experience but i learn something from it....the timing has been retarded quite a bit now due to the crappy job...will get it fixed and then get the stock pipe on..

the bike is kick arse and i really understood the true meaning of a street port today :D...very intoxicating...just my bad luck that the chut i took it to couldnt tighten one fakin nut.....anyways i learnt something from it....thanx again ron...will keep updating as i complete setting her up..and thanx again rohit..

I figured a few minutes ago that it seemed to emanate from the gear box side because the magnet/sprocket cover is open at the rear end and the sound was coming from there. What kind of damage should we expect from this mishap?? Cos there was a considerable play in the drum.
I heard sharp scraping noise from drum after fairly tightening up the nut, I think its the pulsar coil metal scraping on the drum.

Thats really sloppy off the mech not to tighten that nut.
Here is the list of things to chk
1. Magnets in drum crack droping power output of a/c current.
2. THe metal on the coils scrape off increasing the air gap between the coil and magnets again droping curent output
3. I told vampire about this make sure the pulsar isnt scraping on the drum.

You need to find a road side mech.
Take off the coil plate and drum and inspect it for damage done. If something like a coil or drum is badlly damaged you need to replace it. If the pulsar is rubing you need to file it down so it dosent rub.

I ALLWAYS ALLWAYS Use a Trque Wrench on that nut and tighten it down to 30 Pounds at least on the RXG.

Vampire, get the drum and the stator plate out and post the pics of the inner part of the drum, the pulsar coil and the pulsar mount on the stator. Ron has to see the filing. I seriously doubt its reliability.

took some pics ...dint take the pulsar off the mount..the "key" holding the stator plate or somethin to a slit in the shaft is broken....the inside of the magnet drum (the part that the shaft goes thru) is a lil scratched...will post more pics later..

sorted out the problem...everything is fine...the work took just 15min to complete...the pulsar was firm and stable in its position...did a top of 125km/hr (speedo) ..there was still more juice in her...but i ran out of road and guts.

DOsent look like there was too much damage from the nut coming off.
Just make sure which ever mech you use. Remembers to Trqu the drum down.
(NB:THis isnt my supplied drum or nut its the stock Yamaha Drum and nut)

The pulsar mod also looks ok.
I would have personally have shifted it a little bit more. But over all its ok.
MOre important than how the pulsar mod looks is what was the bike timed at after doing the mod.
And how did the bike feel after doing the mod.

Vampire once you get the rxg pipe on it, do a flat out run in 4th gear, lets get ready to hunt down some 225cc premium sportbikes.

well he used a timing light and since he moved it by 2.3 mm to meet my requirement of 22.5 degree it matched with the timing light...the bike feels peppier in initial and basically more fun to ride in traffic...i felt it heating up a lil at lower rpms and cooling down alot at higher rpms....and it does enter a false power band in 4th which dies out in the begining and then gets into the real powerband when im doing a lil more than 100km/hr (no tacho , sorry) and then it pulls clean...when i get the RXG pipe on it will be better...will be doin that this saturday.....
