Feed back on the Pulsar Pro CDI

Post by deltabox »

I installed the pro CDI for the pulsar last week and made a few observations.
1) I'm not able to idle the engine at one particular RPM I mean when I set the idle at 1200 rpm the rpm keeps fluctuating between 1200-2000 rpm.

2) The bike shuts off below 3000 rpm when I throttle after I shift to 1st gear

3) When the bike reaches between 4000 rpm and 6ooo rpm, I feel a lot of jerk.....like there is a misfire.
I did try a lot of curves by using the hand held controller but I'm not able to solve these.
I'm trying all the ways to find out the root cause. Please give in your suggestions on this.

Did you get me msg to chk if the plug is 5K resistor type.
Think the DTSI plug cap should be 5K. Ferio cap is 5K.
If you still have problems let me know.
Also I dont like geting involved in Installs.
Felt forced into it so did it.
Im pretty sure the 5K cap will solve the problem if it dosent drop the bike off for a day.

I will be installing the CDI tomorrow, I had a doubt .......there are two curves ( curve A & B) ...should I programe both the curves or is it ok if I programe one curve and do not touch the other one ?. Should I keep the max advance as 28 deg or 32 deg?
Regarding the plug cap!...I have brought a fiero cap , but should check on the multimeter to confirm the rating...will keep posted.

I checked the plug caps of both pulsar and fiero, Found that pulsar was thousand and odd ohms but I don't know I'm getting very different values for the fiero caps. I brought two caps from the TVS showroom and still itz the same........I was looking in the net and I saw NGK makes these 5K ohms caps......do we get this in bangalore?. I have still not installed the CDI cause I do not want to take a risk with the current plug cap!!

You dont get the NGK plug caps in Bangalore.
Go ahead and use the Fireo cap. You can use the DTSI cap also. Its possible that it will run without any problem. I have never tried it but it should work.

I installed the CDI and tried both the caps with different curves, But the misfire and idle problem still exits. I do not know if my bike has any problems.
Is there any thing specific that I need to check in my bike ?

yes! arpan, The bike is good with the stock CDI. The problem is only between 3000-4000 rpm it misfires and also the idle is not stable it keeps flickering .
What timing have you set during these rpm's and what is the max advance value ?
