Hello from a newbie

Post by JohnJames »

Hey guys,

Just a note saying hello. I live in the bay area, california. I purchased a '71 R5 350 with 2,067 miles on the clock (it sat neglected for a long time). Looking forward to reading and learning more about two-stroke yamahas and putting this little yammie back on the road!

I live on the boarder of Fremont/Hayward. Yes, I found a good one. I cleaned out the tank, carbs, replaced the hoses, set the timing, bought a new battery and votage reg. Started on the third kick! Only it was smoking like crazy out of the right pipe, even after warming up. Bought new crank seals. Now I have to build up the courage to split the case and install. Never done that before. :) If I get into trouble I hope the experts here can send a few wise words my way. :)
