Hail to Lord Chinoy!!

Post by dharmaracer »

I still cant get the smile off my face after have just ridden my re-worked (just the detox, no fancy makeup as yet) RD by Lord Chinoy. I cannot believe that an RD rides so well.

After my initial fiasco of firstly buying a total buggering works machine, had a second fiasco by taking it to a local mech. I wasnt sure if the bike was better or worse at that point. It was sputtering, power band kicking in only 4500 (inspite of being a LT), leaks in the carb, bad plugs...etc...

So i took it to Ron's place and had him look at it. After some analysis by him and him asking me get parts that I am still trying to figure out the exact meaning of, Ron worked out the kinks with stuff in his garage. He gave me a quick and accurate reading of whats wrong on the bike and went about fixing it.

I rode the bike today (still needs a few more small things at this point) and what a difference. It smooth, pulls hard and delivers a good punch and i still cannot believe this.

There is more work on it in terms of pistons/cdi/bearings etc.. But exciting to kind of touch the tip of the iceberg of what a real mean machine this can be!

Of course the timely help of CCR cannot be understated at this time. How gracious of him to offer me help in an instant!!

Hail to the RD
Hail to Lord Chinoy

So those in doubt with your RD's take it to the man who has way too much in his head (its probably illegal to know so much :-))

That was one BIGGGGGG SMILE.
Now your seriouslly embarsing me dude

Saw the bike being picked up. Going to another mech to get fixed up. You got a big bill from the guy and the bike ran even worse for sure even Arun said so. Know just how frustrating that can feel, having been tru it my self bouncing from Garages in Bihar, Delhi, Calcutta to Bangalore. Paying thru your nose and never geting it just right.
The RD is a cult bike and its sad to see them runing arround in the pathetic state most are.

Guesed you liked it. Waiting at the gate hear the bike aproaching and the simile plastered across your face could be see from the end of the road.
Thats got to be the bigest brigtest smile Ive ever seen on HIgh Street and Ive seen some big smiles

The formulae we are trying to follow cause its worked well in the past i.e. with Aruns bikes and others.

1. Starts with a New bike inspection report.
The owner is given a run down on what they have. What the problem areas are. And what needs to be fixed.

2. If possible try and get the bike runing like a True RD should run.

3. Hand over a road map for jobs and things to be done on the bike. And take it forward in a staged manner.

So far most owners have been so suprised by the performance of a properlly setup RD. That they leave it there. Others opt for a Stage I, II III or even Hybrid porting setup.

Ppl ask me how often do I visit the garage. lol. The truth is I've never had to visit anyone, the CDI is a total success, the bikes making enough power to slip clutch and powerslide in 3rd gear, the fuel economy is downright dumbfounding at 15-20kmpl in town and I've got 25 on one occasion where I was basically riding in 6th gear at 3500rpm( I know it sucks) for 20 minutes. All this and the timing is way too retarded at 18deg. Its like the stock RD carbs are too obsolete compared to the ignition system. And the time when I feel that the whole package is worth more than I spent is when i heard the thing revv at 8000rpm, 0 vibration with modern japanese inline 4 smoothness. The guy has basically done his homework and we are getting the fruits.

Yeah, he has been putting his head where most have neither the time, instincts or will to put in, he deserves to be there, where he is at today, and many milestones still to come to Ron, i only worry that someday he dont land up in Agra mental hospital with too much of zero tolerence and micron issues, how much is too much and being too through finally do him in
