Digital CDI rocks!!
Man, I have no words. Works Perfect!!
With the spark strength offered by the CDI, it burns every bit of gas and jetting is difficult … lol. With the bigger jets installed the bike is easily revving out to 10krpm in 4th gear. Inspite of all the raping the heads are so cool you can kiss em.
The bike is setup really nice, serious blaster now. I need better brakes lol, ought to be careful.
After running the motor for a couple of thousands kms, we lifted the heads for inspection. The timing is spot on and the liners show ZERO wear and looks better that chrome, thanks to the Chinoy Filter filters.
Anybody running points and crap CDI, you don’t know what you are missing. Digital CDI does improve mileage, reduce pollution, wide wide powerband 2,000-10,000rpm and more importantly make riding the RD more enjoyable!!
Ron ...you da Man
Digital CDI is kickass

Well was expecting a post after the follow up inspection.
Bike has done a few thousand Kms. And the insides where perfect. The engine has been on Unis from day one. And the liner was so smooth it allmost looked like Chrome. Actually better than chrome.
Hate to admit this but this bike whuped my arse on the RZ.
We where 3 guys on the highway last sunday. Guru on his RD me on the RZ and Rags on his RD.
This old air cooled was out pulling the RZ, Our accelrating and faster than the RZ.
Embarasing but the truth.
Also credit where credit is due. Be it Guru completing thousands of Kms on his RD. or Arun who has completed 17,000 Kms of hard riding. On a TKR pistons and rings. There seems to be a direct relationship between rider maturity and skills and life, condition of the bike.
One customer can blow up / seze his engine in 100 Kms the other can go 18,000 Kms. Of hard riding without a problem. It tells us that how you treat your bike is every bit as important as what parts you use and who builds the engine.
We are having problems with the jeting have changed over 20 jet sizes and the plugs still remain bone white. The richer we make it the harder it seems to pull. Have to mention Im sure the Kehins carbs do help with much better fuel atomisation. We went from 100 to 110 then 120 and now we will be trying 125s. (Kehin jet sizes/Needle on richest clip thru out.) The old analogue CDI was quite happy runing on the 100s. In fact we couldnt get the bike to move with anything larger.
I really feel people upgrading to the digital CDI need to keep an eye on their jeting.
Another funny thing the bike actually runs cooler the harder you push it.
This has got to be one of the best builds we have done to date. Then again no expence spared. Wiseco pistons. Liners, Chinoy Filter filters, Digital CDI. Wiseco Hot rods. etc etc
But Guru seems convinced its the CDI that has made the diffirence. I wouldnt argue the point. But it is one sweet ride. Enjoy mate. Im happy with the findings of our inspection.

JL - I've heard of this before, where poor coils burn less fuel, requiring the bike to be jetted down to run @ 'all', then if you fit a better coil, etc suddenly it's running very weak.chinoy wrote:<SNIPPED>

When you finalise your settings (particularly with regard to Keihin PWK28s, as that's what I'm most interested in) can you post both lots of settings, so that we can understand the magnitude of difference that the new digital CDI makes?
We got the carbs with 130s it was so rich it refused to run.
We kept jeting down and finally got it to run at arround 100. Mains.
After we put in the digital CDI. We tried 110,120,130, and finally landed up on 140s.
All kehin jet sizes.
Most guys like likker who saw the last apir said no way the bike will run on such large jets.
Funy enoughf they are runing fine.

JL - That doesn't surprise me (or @ least I'm open minded) !chinoy wrote:We got the carbs with 130s it was so rich it refused to run.

So, if you're running # 140s (& is that on the RZ, & what state of tune is that - ported, chambers, Chinoy Filter filters, etc.) did you have to alter the needle, or any other settings?
And while we've touched before on the problems about converting Mikuni sizes to Keihin (or back), as I'm still trying to extrapolate to UK weather conditions, if you can't be more exact, can you @ least give me some idea as to what difference in effect a xhange of one (Keihin) mann jet size has? Bigger/smaller than one Mikuni main jet size? By how much?
Bike is a stock air cooled RD
With no expences spared on the rebuild.
Lota go fast goodies including a pair of Kehin Carbs.
I wouldnt credit the way the bike moves all to the CDI. It was as if the CDI was just the last pice of the jigsaw that bought out the goodness of all the other parts.
Wiseco pistons, RZ reeds, Chinoy Filter filters, Kehin carbs, Digital CDI
Stage 2 port. Stock pipes Air cooled RD.
Whups my poor RZs butt big time.
Kehin jets are dia. size so 100=1mm and 140=1.4mm
Ps: Note for Tom of all the go fast goodies, wiseco pistons, Flatslides. RDD Porting the owner is most impresed with the CDI.
