Updates on baby ugly
Its been sometime that we have finished on the set up, a big thanks to Ron for building the bike and *beep* for helping in working on it. Thanks to arun vignesh and others for all their help too. special thanks to crank for his ideas on sorting out the gear shift linkages, rear brake setup etc.
Well its been a good effort, the hard work n money spend on it, The lil one has matured into a mean bitch thanks to Ron. We for sure know that the bike is too mean n tricky to ride now, and the power has become violent and too hard to control, the new riding position also needs to be mastered. We started the basic testing some time ago, and are still in the process of sorting out some minor issues.
Ron as motor discussed with you last time, the bike is running a little rich, as in the powerband does not exactly 'explode' but builds gradually, but then keeps building into heavy wheelies even in 3rd gear. feels difficult to keep the wheel down on the initial gears.
The issue with parts falling off coz of heavy vibration etc has been sorted out there is no such issue now. Had some trouble with the seat rubbers falling off because of bad seat position but that is all sorted now.
The 34mm carbs do not take the RX chokes as in they were leaking badly so had to switch back to RD chokes and they do work perfectly. right now running 260 mains and might need to move down a bit depending on the final jetting decision and will need rons inputs on this. One clue, as ron suggested, is that bike runs better when the powerjet is closed.
We are facing slight difficulties with getting out of 1st gear still, but we strongly suspect that its more due to the violent nature of the bike trying to wheelie and getting used to the seating position and the gearlever and rearset setup etc. once thoroughly comfortable shouldnt have any problems.
Our aim was to participate in official drags and win some maybe it will take time but we know that we have the patience to do that. We have come across loads of hear say and poking attitude from some of our friends, I for one don't appreciate it. The three of us are having a real tough time professionally and personally but we still have our dream and we are pursueing it, we are testing the bike regularly, but just maintaining a low profile for various reasons.
We never had any issues with people doing there stuff in the club and as far as possible supported them and kept our mouth shut and refrained our self from making negative comments also. Please respect this. The one person we owe a lot is Ron, and we respect him as a technical person and as a friend. We don't believe in road races or proving it to anyone. We as a team need to prove it ourselves only. We are far away from our ultimate goal but have the determination is rock solid. We are gonna test it make sure its up to our expectation then race and by race properly organized drag and maybe later on if we have the time n money maybe have a set up for a hill climb motor also.
Riding will be done by Tom or Motor or someone we as a team decide on, we don't claim we are the best riders also and we needs loads of practice to come close to the local riders and we will practice and get there. We need all of your moral support, technical help we know is assured by Ron and we will stand by his choice in that front.
As i said we are keeping the testing a bit low profile due to various reasons, and generally we dont want to risk getting the bike into any legal troubles or other messes after all the money and effort spent and but that i mean not only by us but Ron and others also.
We are yet to get the speeds in the first few gears as crank had borrowed the sigma. now we have it n will post some numbers from the initial gear soon.
Once more, huge thanks to ron for not only building a kickass engine, also for the nitro pipes which are performing just beautifully, for providing us the 34mm carbs, helping a lot with setting them up, for the CDI which is working like a dream n a lot lot more not to forget all his effort on the engine lower half and solving a lot of niggling problems.
ps: We are not playing politics or voting for a split in the club and any one who runs a comment on this tone will need to take our grunt.. yeah like mentioned elsewhere, we all are chuts, but we manage to get along pretty well.. and yes it is still a TEAM RDD BIKE no second thoughts about it.

Yup jaggu well put. Abt the low profile thingie, had discusssed with Ron.
There are real problems with keeping the front wheel down, maybe we will need to go back to the stock sprocketing.
last day went to bhais garage to pick up an old petrol tank that i had left there long back. casually asked him, whether anything can be done to the RD swingarm. bhai confidently replied, "man thats easy, just replace the RD swingarm with the splendor one" and this is not a joke, he actually suggested that lol
the way the powerband begins is funny..like jaggu said, it does not explode suddenly out of nowwhere...it begins to take form slowly, giving the impression that jetting is toootally out, but then the power just keeps building and it just goes into big wheelies

And crank, the 34mms somehow dont like ur RX chokes... When i fitted them, they went in cleanly and seems to fit so perfectly that i didnt bother starting the bike and verifying it right then. i just tightened them in and pushed the bike inside...
later when the bike was started and run, it was misbehaving completely and racked heads two days abt why...
later we switched to the RD chokes, just as a last possibility, and the bike just came back to normal..i think the RX ones leak.
but damn i wish they had worked, they are much easier to operate

Well guys glad you like the way the bike turned out.
Im totally with you about geting the riding skills and all issues sorted before going out an making a fool of ourselfs. Cause then its just excues if you dont do well. I know Ive built a bike that can kick the best RDs in India there is no doubt about this. The day it took out the GSXR on the launch I knew we where there.
On the technical front. The day crank sugested the idea about the choke changing I told motor it wont work and showed him why. Please take my technical imputs a little more seriouslly. It will save us a lot of time and effort. Also please dont listen to the Bhais and others technical inputs like use a CBZ swing arm or any other such crap.
On the jeting issue I dont want to discus on open forum. Your main jet maybe a 260 but your actually runing a total setup in excess of 360. I will help sort out the jeting its not a big issue. We allways jet rich and then go leaner its the right way to do things.
Start a new thread on the customer setion and I will respond to all the issues. As you got the carbs from me. I will provide you with a complete range of jets to test. After you dial it in just return what your not going to use.

hmmm thats an interesting point..the same acceleration that is a disadvantage in the first few gears will turn into an advantage in the last few gears..chinoy wrote: I know it can be a pain keeping the front weel down in the first 3 gears. I guess now Tom will understand why Krishana was sliping the clutch. At the time we argued about it and I did say Krishna had the Technique down right. Ive spent too much time and effort over 5 years dialing in this setup to discuss it on open forum. Please take it to the team lounge.

Okay the RX choke doesn't work. Wish it did coz it was much easier to use. But yeah the RD choke is working It was me who suggested to put the RD chokes and that day you said it won't work, but it did. No offence, but nice to know that my previous idea did work.The day crank sugested the idea about the choke changing I told motor it wont work and showed him why.
