History:
Here is a brief history of the kit and the major revisions.
1999: First kit that offered 90/100 lighting. Analogue CDI + HT coil combo units. CDI Units where from India Nippon. Good for stock RDs. Suffered from missing on tuned RDs. i.e. over 10,000 RPM. (Recalled or Free upgrade to Analogue Given free of cost).
2001: First performance Analogue CDI built and developed by RDD with two separate HT coils. Released to address the high RPM issue. These units where tested to over 20,000 RPM with no issues.
2003: First Digital Ignition built and developed by RDD. Featured static timing. Wasted spark removed. So the capacitor is charged twice but discharged only once. For a huge jump in spark energy. World First.
2004: Digital II. Which had dynamic timing. Tacho signal out. Two maps that could be picked via a TPS or a regular switch. One was static full advance and one was dynamic.
2005: Introduction of the fully programmable Ignition with too many features to list here. See Programmable Ignition web page. Digital Programmable this needs to be ordered separately. It used a hand held Programer to program the CDI. No longer in production.
2005: Introduction of the DC based Ignitions for the RZ350 / Banshee / LC350 / TZR250. Using ferrite cores it was now possible to ensure a steady 400-500 volts a/c to the Caps at all RPMs. vs the stock 150-200 volts generated by the source coils.
2006: We have been busy working on the Digital III. Slated for release in early Jan 2007. We have added more features. And worked with RDD kit owners around the world to further refine an excellent package.
Our kits have always been popular. But we have refused to rest on our laurels and work 24x7 towards improving the kit and offering the best value to our customers.
2007: Digital III released, Features 3 maps. Digital Tacho out +12 Volt square wave output. Option for TPS / map sensor to switch maps. Custom curves for your application. Two rev limits. One by backing off the timing to fire at TDC and two by killing spark beyond 13500 RPM.
2007 (March): Digital III and IIIa released. Digital Curve Revision 8. New Automotive couplers on CDI. TZR and RZ CDIs get improved Ferite cores for higher output. New Digital CDIs released for Indian 4 Stroke Bikes.
2008: Digital IV Released.
2009: Digital V Released.
2009: Coming soon. Windows PC Front end. Store 100,0000 Curves or as much as hard disk can hold. CDI designed to work with Internal or External Pulsar. A universal CDI. With all the goodness of RDD. Working on data logging and many new features not available on any other Product out there. USB Port. USB Memory Sticks to datalog and Store maps.

Re: HISTORY OF THE RDD CDI
Its 2019
We are now on Version 10 of the CDI. With each revision changes have been made to the Circuit, the components used and the maps have been refined and improved upon.
Backward compatablity has been maintained with evry kit we sold i.e. You can update your Digital ECU to the latest version and it will work with our very first Coil and Magnets.
We have continuslly been working on upgrading and improving our Ignition systems.
The latest version of the Pro can now be programed with a windows front end software.
It connects to your PC or laptop via a USB port.
You can find the latest version of the Digital CDI software here.
http://rddreams.com/rddpro/ (Only compatible with Pro CDI units made after 2018).
Feature of the Pro CDI.
1. Status LED to indicate mode ECU is in. Reading / Writing / Program Mode or Run Mode. Also indicates if CPU is getting a clean pulse signal from the Pulasr.
2. You can set a two stage Shift light. Or single stage. Shift light. The same signal can be used to power stuff like Electronic Power jets. By adding a simple tranistor. First point is when the Shift light should start to blink and second is when it should go solid. If both are set at the same RPM it works as a single stage. (Shift light now Provided though you can power a simple LED with the signal in your helmet or On the dash.)
3. You can set what ever Rev Limit you want.
4. You can programe whatever curve you want. Using the software.
5. We provide a safe fall back curve hard coded into the ECU. Say you are having problems coming up with a decent curve. You can activate the RDD curve. In fact you would be hard pressed to come up with a better curve than the RDD curve for most stock and mildlly modifed engines.
