Studies to prove E-cig is safe.

Post by chinoy »

Every time I see in the news a comment which goes use of e-cig is not safe.
There are no studies to prove e-cig is safe. Its utter bull shit.
So let us compile a list of studies and post it here.
No need to chit chat each post should just be a new link to a study or medical paper.
When we have enough studies we will draft a letter to Mr. modi with all the studies and send it to him. With a copy to the health dept.

The sad thing is that mos tof the rules pertaining to e-cig use in India where all formulated over 8 years ago. And they where pretty good. And open minded at the time.

Let us come up with a plan of action.

1. Let us setup an online petition that people can sign and send it to PM and Health Ministry.
2. Let us collect as much data as we can in the form of papers / studies / our own stories.
3. Let us use our contacts in Meida and the political system to get our voices heard.

I would really like to know who these experts are that gave such stupid outlandish advise.

My 2 cents get your gear and juice lines up you have been warned.
Once the rules change which has already happened you can forget about clearing stuff thru customs.

I worry about my pending orders. With Fast Tech and other sites.

I have some news from reliable sources.
The people trying to shut down e-cig. Its not big Tobacco at least in India.
Its the Pharma Lobby.
There are millions of dollars at stake. They are trying to push Nicotine Patches and chewing gums as the best solution to stopping. If you thought there was money in the e-cig business. Thing again.
The profits on gum and patches will make e-cig margins look like a joke. We are talking 40 ps cost and selling for Rs 50/-. When you think of the money being made by big pharma it should send a shiver up your spine.
Also check out how doctors are convinced to prescribe medications.
It does not matter that Patches have a lower success rate than the patches.
They are the people who have convinced the health minister that e-cig is bad.
In a way they are right. A patch is less harmful than smoking PG.
They make no mention of the option of smoking VG in their presentations.

Pharma lobby in India is huge. The money at stake is also huge. E-Cig does not stand a chance against big Pharma.
Our only hope is that Big Tobacco fights for e-cig. Or they could sit back and do nothing because they know Nicotine patches do not work. Its a win win for big tobacco either way. In fact it makes more sense for them to not do anything.

Not sure whether this has been posted elsewhere on the forum, but this seems to be the right thread. So here goes:

(1) Press Release
(2) Full Document
(3) Research & Analysis

Key message:
e-cigarette use is around 95% safer than smoking is based on the facts that:
  • the constituents of cigarette smoke that harm health – including carcinogens – are either absent in e-cigarette vapour or, if present, they are mostly at levels much below 5% of smoking doses (mostly below 1% and far below safety limits for occupational exposure).
  • the main chemicals present in e-cigarettes only have not been associated with any serious risk.
  • Two recent worldwide media headlines asserted that EC use is dangerous. These were based on misinterpreted research findings:
  • [list]
  • It was reported that a high level of formaldehyde was found when e-liquid was over-heated. Failed to mention that this was heated to levels unpalatable to EC users, but there is no indication that EC users are exposed to dangerous levels of aldehydes; stressed mice poisoned with very high levels of nicotine twice daily for two weeks were more likely to lose weight and die when exposed to bacteria and viruses, but this has no relevance for human EC users.
  • News Items failed to mention that the risks from fire or poisoning could be controlled through standard regulations for similar types of products, such as childproof containers and instructions about the importance of using the correct charger.
