Status on my Digital 40 watt Mod.

Post by chinoy »

So first I thought of making a mech mod.
We did that. And posted the pictures on face book at few months ago.
It sits on a USB socket and can be plugged into any storage bank. I was using a nokia 2200 mah bat bank.
I tried it on a 12,000 Mah bat bank also.

What I liked about this mod was that you could use it with any Bat Bank.

Then I got interested in something which would give some juice. We started to work on 10 watt. But then it jumped 20, 30, 50 100 and 150.
At 150 I thought screw this.
THen we started to work on using the wide band controller to offer temp control. But to justify PCB costs. We have to sell at least 100. So that was put aside.

And just purchased a Sigeli 20 watt.
I figured out a lot using that. Like dont expect more than 30 min on a single bat.

Then some juice got onto the PCB thanks to a defective design on Sigelis part. And it packed up.
Then I figured all these mods. If the tank is on top. You will get juice on the circuit or display.
The only reason the Itaste VTR lasted was because if the tank leaked and they will all leak. The juice has no where to go. i.e. display fire button are all far away.

Anyway since the Sigeli is no longer working Im making my own mod And have opted to go with 40 watt.
Ill finish it when I get the parts form the US in the first week of Dec. Or before that if I find the parts locally.

If others like it they can buy it. It will be priced at under 5K.
It will work off two bats. 28650 or 18650. You will need to pick your bat sled size when you order.
I guess we could sell seperate sleds and you could change the sled to suit the bat.

The only thing we are sure off as now is that it will be 40 watts.
Which is kind of pointless unless you have sony VTC bats. But lets see. We can always limit the watts to anything from 10 to 40.
Lots of things to sort out. Do we use a display what kind of display. how to keep the costs down etc.
Since Andy has already used wood. I guess Ill stick to billet. Original plan was wood. But lets do something different.

My first reaction to your post was to remind you that we could always up the volts. Then i realized if you have been working on it so long, more than likely you have split all hairs possible. Let me know if i can help you bounce some ideas around.

Right now we are at do we keep it simple or over complicate it.
With stuff like no screen or a we use the phone display and bluetooth to talk to the mod.
What ever we do we cant beat china on prices.
So I dont see this as ever being a commercial mod.
So then Im thinking just build it for my self. If the odd friend wants one we can do 1 or 2.
One thing is for sure. SIngle 18650 is pointless. Maybe two 28650 is where its at.
