Lets get organised. Indian Tobacco

Post by chinoy »

Ok lets get this sorted.

Part 1.
Identify the types of Tobacco we get in India.
Along with type also identify the location.

So we now have a list of Types of Tobacco we can get in India. With which city. In India.

With this list I contact the over 1000 so called supposed to be good friends i have on FB and we start getting samples from each location.
We then use distillation and steam extraction to extract the flavor / essence of each type.

Who is up to the task of collating this data. I will share samples with you if it ever gets done.

We start the journey here

From early times man has developed various types of tobacco for various uses. There are about sixty five valid species of tobacco but among these only two species viz; NICOTIANA TABACUM and NICOTIANA RUSTICA are cultivated extensively. India grows both these species, but, by far, the largest area is under Nicotiana tabacum which is grown all over the country. Nicotiana rustica requires cooler climate. Its cultivation is confined mainly to the northern and north-eastern region.
