RDD CDI installed - I'm so happy

Post by rawpower43bhp »

Hi guys....

i own a Yamaha RD350 1984 HT ( Stock )

Wanted to say something about the RDD CDI, it was since 2000 i gotta own the RD350. But was running points, now with no knowledge of points and calling a mech to my place to tune it was a pain as either they refuse to come or else the charges are exorbitant and also got cheated many times. It was then in 2003 i gotto get in the RDD site, i guess it was eindiacompanies.com, read about engine rebuilds so believe me started learning a lot of things, then i started understanding the points seems to be a very old technology. Was not sure of the RDD CDI as it was expensive to me so did not look into for it ( Which was my mistake ). i also looked into for the piranha ign but that seemed to be a failure due to Indian conditions. I used my RD from 2000 - 2004 but was on autoescorts ign for the latter part then had to sell it due to a lotta complaints from my mom's friends that i was too fast :P, so after hunting for a very long time picked up one but still on points so the pain continued. Still got the entire bike done up and u don't wanna know the pain and trouble as couple of rides and i knew i had to face some issues i got stranded in the middle of no where "thrice". Then i decided irrespective i need the RDD CDI so after pestering Ron for a good 1 year approx he finally gave it to me. 3 days back a good friend Capt Sunil Gondane got it installed for me i was like wow its a plug & play on the RX135 wiring harness with minimal wiring, 1 kick it fired and with a fantastic different grunt. i then tried to check it was running just awesome i am running on stock jets & air box but still its a crazy ride, enjoying every bit of it, my machine pulls fantastic.

# wanna say a BIG Thanx to Ron & Capt. Sunil Gondane...
# Attaching a pic....

Not to mention there were so called people / trouble makers refraining me from buying this product stating its too expensive, they mentioned "we can make the similar CDI's but in much cheaper rates, i said hey i want the best for my bike and i don't wanna screw around with dumbFcuk people & products"...................

I could not say no to Jared, because more than him I wanted to help the RD. LOL. How I managed to spare a day for him , I only know.I am not a RDD authorised installer. In fact , any one who follows the instal instruction can get it right. Need to make sure that the option wires are safely taped away and grounding is good. His wiring was a mayhem of cut and splice . The Cam was so worn that I wondered how it ever ran. Installation was quick. And we were happy to hear the Rd roar. The timing is still on the safer side. Will do the job after sanju Sahoo agrees to return the light (been waiting since more than 2 years). your jetting needs to be sorted, but leave that job till you get UN's.Remember there is a lot of grunt still left to be unleashed in your engine which can be extracted with proper jetting and filters.. Post something about riding impression along with a video if possible. Take good care of her.

Ron !! Ron!! Helloo!! I hope you are seeing this. Man this forum is seeing a lot less posts than it used to. You need to make a come back Ron.. for 2 stroke sakes please.. I know 4 wheels are more that two but .. a 2 stroke is more than 4! and you know that! A lot of real 2 strokers still need you [and your CDI's]! Dont make us 'Race deprived' instead of 'Race Derived' man.

Jared Thanks For the kind words.
Capt. Thank you too. You are a becon to the two stroke fans in your city.
Yes I know your work is still pending with me. And it keeps me up nights thinking how I should finish it. And its almost done. Prd has been a big help. In helping me wrap up pending builds. But porting is something only I can do. And its something that you need to be in a state of mind to do.

RDD has weathered many ups and many downs. But it is the strength and knowledge of our members and our community and the spirit of two stroke brother hood that has held us together over the years and not me. We have seen RDD and its products being viciously attacked over the years. But we are still here. We have seen so many people come and go. Yet we remain. It wasnt Ron or me that made this possible. Its the quality of our customers and members that made this possible.

Racing season for the cars finishes on the 28th of this month we will be having our last race for the season. After this no cars and no racing for at least 6 months. So I will be back. And all pending jobs with me in terms of builds / porting etc will be cleared before the end of the year.

There are some personal issues that I am going thru related to the family which I do not wish to bring up. I see it as an opportunity to earn some good karma by taking care of my family in this time of crisis. And I know that this too will pass.

We have some very exiting builds in the pipeline. I just finished my first RD400. And we have one really sweet RZ350 also coming out.
Just hang in there everything will have a happy ending soon.

Ron, I think I an have idea about your personal issue. Just like most of us Even I have been through it. You know there is no get away from certain facts of life. You know how RDD crowd regards you and I am certain their best wishes are with you.
I may be holding a high chair in a shipping company, but I dont let that interfere when it comes to help a fellow RDD member.

QUOTE..
Guys check this

had met this guy named "Shreyas Save" one night in Vasai as I was on my way 2 get some beers & was riding my RD, This is FB status which reads as.......

Hi,

After 'just another day', returned home late. Saw my babe standing outside my house, covered..

Something ran through my mind, I immediately went in, kept my bag, took the keys and 'uncovered' her!

1 kick, and she roared as if ordering me to take her out. ;-)

Down the gear, a little warm-up and I was alone on the streets at 12.00 am.

Hit the main road, and I was 'swinging' on the roads, with some few vehicles around.

Reached till where I had thought, and took a U-Turn..

Again swinging on the way back, saw some P220 guys touring at 40-50s..

As I changed my lane to overtake, Heard a Loud "Roar" from behind; lights in my mirror..

Sounded as if someone had done something to an RX silencer to make it sound loud but melodious..

I gave way for "It" to pass (Thinking: Ye kaun hai jo itne excitement me RX ko overtake kar raha hai..)

And to my surprise (Never Ever expected this!), there was the "Daddy" of my Baby Rx- "The Almighty RD 350.."

He went ahead, slowed, gave the 220 guys a 'look' and down the gear, twist of the wrist, and TRRRRRR....

A large roar, possibly could have been audible atleast 300mts ahead..

I was stunned, lost my senses for 2 seconds..

Revved my babe, and I "TRIED" to catch it.. (Sounds funny, I know) :-(

After 1 Km, I was nearing "Him" (Talking about the RD - I dont like to call "It" as 'it', due to the immense respect)

Boy o Boy, gave him horns and pass light, hoping that the rider would understand, slow down and let me gaze at the Daddy for sometime..

Finally he did look in his mirrors, slowed down, I called for him..

He stopped, I went next to him, looked at his RD in every possible way..

My eyes sparkling bright, and the roar in my ears (Oh man, trying my best to describe it!)

Had a brief discussion! (Way too exciting chat!)

Finally, bid him bye!, stared at the RD once again, as if it was my last time, gave a 'Flying Kiss' to the RD (Yes I actually did that).

Started my babe, difficult to mix the sounds of both the bikes, as the RD's roar was still echoing in my ears (Reminds me of my 'Shogun' - Miss You)..

Swinging again, My baby silently communicated with me in a sad way :'( n I replied:

"If that's the M1, you are my R1.. I love you for what you are.. Thanks for being mine.. :-* "

Kissed my babe while riding (I did this too!) came home and slept, thinking about both of them side by side..

What an experience was it, just a random thought and I took her out..

Followed my Heart and my 1 wish came true (To see the RD and ride by its side)..

Waitng for another dream to be fulfilled : To RIDE an RD Atleast ONCE in My LIFE..

I would appreciate, if anyone helps me with this!

Happy Riding!

Did you order the filters ?
Anybody who ordered the filter kits please remind me if you havent got your filter kit.

The filter kit is the next thing you should upgrade to once you have the cdi installed and working on the bike.
