Baleno - RDDreams Pro Street Setup - The new benchmark!
Well this kinda build starts when you have a friend who calls up and tells you buy a baleno, build it and beat your own car! It all started year before last when I spotted a clean baleno for sale in Kerala and casually mentioned it Anish. Well that Friday I was on a bus to Cochin. Well the buying itself is a story which is for some other time. Drove it back on Sunday directly to Ron's place, yeah even after 650kms I was too eager to show it to him. Next week the car was in the dungeon getting stripped.
Here goes the mod list
RDDreams Performance:
RDDreams Piggyback with:
a. Wideband O2 sensor
b. Digital AFR Controller and Display
c. Datalogger with multiple parameters
Stage 3 Port and Polished Very High Comp Head
Multi angle Valve Mod
High Performance Road Race Cam
Modified Throttlebody and Intake Manifold
4X1 Custom Tuned Length Headers coated with Hi Heat Treatment
Free Flow Exhaust with 3" endcan with SS tip
Exedy Stage 2 Clutch
Lightened and balanced Flywheel
Chinoy Filter Foam Pod Filter with Trumpet Cold Air Intake
NGK BKR7E Spark Plugs
Gizzmo Carbon Fibre Dual Stage Shift light with Launch Interface
Suspension, wheels & tires:
Koni Sport Adjustable Dampers
Kings Progressive Lowering Springs
195/55R15 84V Yokohama Advan Neovas AD-07
Lenso Limited Edition 15inch 7J Monoblock alloys - 5 spoke
EBC Green brake pads
ICE (Not much of an ICE guy):
Pioneer 7250SD MP3 player
Crunch 6.5" Component Speakers
Boston 6"X9" 3 way speakers
Memphis 12" Sub woofer in sealed enclosure
Crunch 4 channel Amplifier
Scosche EFX Amp wiring
Interior:
Ovion Monza Leather on Steering wheel
All black Art-leather on seats and door padding.
Exterior:
3M sunfilm all around except windshield
Philips 100/90 halogen headlights
Hella Horns
There was only one thing that I told Ron, this car should be faster than my car. And it is! Build is successful, period. Damn it was well worth the wait.
I will leave Anish to write the review but I need to post some facts. The car has been running NON-STOP for the last month and a half. 7000kms of flat out driving which includes, two Bangalore-Kerala trips, one Chennai-Kerala trip and a dyno run and a few impromptu drives through the ghats to Kumily in Kerala. Most of the trip averages were 12.5kmpl but yest with no A/C it gave more than 16kmpl, which is ridiculous for a stage 2 car.
Now coming to the dyno, oh well let the charts speak for themselves. This is the comparison between a Stage 1 Baleno and Anish baleno. This is the BEST street NA baleno result on the RRR dyno till date!
Now the car is a semi sleeper. Beautiful yet understated. Now I would love to go on and on about the car. But Anish will write a detailed report. Also customer feedback will be done by him, but Ron you can add one more satisfied customer and build to your list.

Re: Baleno - RDDreams Pro Street Setup - The new benchmark!
Oh no here we go again LOL.
Well I really wanted somebody to beat Mohits Car.
Then we could come back and beat that.
But after waiting and waiting and waiting. Didnt look like anybody would come close. Dont know what happened to all the 100+ BHP Vbox dyno Balenos.
So we just went out and set a new standard for the Baleno engine.
Anihs sounded really happy with the build. For me that's all that counts.
16 Km/LTR - 6000 Kms in under a month. Happy customer story over.
Car runs on any gas 88 - 97 Mileage is good.
Not bad for a street tuned Maruti. We call it street tuned cause the emphasis is on the power under 6000 RPM.
Any fool can make bhp thru Rev's
Just adding a larger TB would take us past 95 BHP. The tiny 45mm TB is a major Bottle Neck on this build.
But it is also what gives it that amazing tyre shredding torque when you hit the gas in the low Revs.
We could bump up peak power. But it would mean a huge hole under 5000 RPM which is where most street cars spend 99% of their time.
Gives you some idea as to the amount of work put into the head.
All done in damp dark dungeon in Bangalore.
Stock ECU, Stock Rev Limit. Factory maps And yet more power everywhere.
Can you imagine what this motor would do with a stand alone ECU ?
So all you NA Baleno Junkies. This is what ya gota beat. Please try.
As things stand two most powerful NA Baleno builds on the RR DYNO both RDD Builds.
Next RDD Build Dyno curve you will see will be a RDD Built Honda.
Should be done by March. We will have both NA and Turbo. Engines being prepped.
Expecting them to be in the 100-200 BHP range. Anything under 110 BHP isn't worth even dynoing on a Honda.
Dreams do come true.
You just gota find the right Dream Weaver.
I will say this. This car was one of the hardest and most challenging builds of my life. Suzuki engines are not designed like Honda's they have their own quirks and problems.
Starting from the Tiny Valve Springs. To the absurd Rockers.
If something could go wrong it did.
Thanks to Danny and Arun who helped me a lot. Both paid a key role in bringing this engine back from the dead.
Time invested in this head over 3 months.
Time invested in just the electronics over 2 months.
Header design alone was 1 month.

Congratulations
Re: Baleno - RDDreams Pro Street Setup - The new benchmark!
Super graph looks super kewl for a normal drive. Should be real fun, i somehow dont like the lowering spring look though
Re: Baleno - RDDreams Pro Street Setup - The new benchmark!
I guess you have to drive it at 200+ to appreciate the suspension setup.
Its more about how the car handles than looks.
Also its not lowered all that much. I think an inch or less.
This car was built for one purpose if you ask me. High speed Bangalore - Malu home tow trips.
So it spends most of its life on the highway doing high speeds.
Not puttering around on Bangalore roads.

Congrats Ron that is one sweet dyno graph. After hearing that engine, I was eagerly waiting to see its dyno graph. Great power and moreover power everywhere that is RDD way of doing things. Congrats again.
Re: Baleno - RDDreams Pro Street Setup - The new benchmark!
Looking good Mohith!
Ron, this is brilliant.I hope to buy a car sometime next year. Hopefully, by then you would have something up your sleeve for diesels.

Re: Baleno - RDDreams Pro Street Setup - The new benchmark!
In your case Id say the Hand job was a nightmare lol.
You didnt give it any head. I did the head. You did the bores and the secret liner prep. LOL.

yeah u were giving head and i was prepping the bore ...
Re: Baleno - RDDreams Pro Street Setup - The new benchmark!
LOL I heard some of the stories. About how the car got dynoed.
Safe to say Mohit wont be believed next time he goes to RR Dyno.

Re: Baleno - RDDreams Pro Street Setup - The new benchmark!
Got to hear what happened at the the Dyno.
Funny story get mohit to tell you sometime lol.
You guys made a mistake doing the pull on pump gas.
You should have filled high octane and bumped up the timing a few degrees for the Dyno pull.
The Base line is a Stage 1 Baleno with the following mods
a. Stand alone ECU
b. Fuel race headers
c. Cold Air intake and a few other mods.
The maps on the stand alone where developed on a Dyno.
Pretty much a Group N spec car.
It is not a stock Baleno.

Re: Baleno - RDDreams Pro Street Setup - The new benchmark!
While I was browsing this post , an old timer marine chief engineer ( who used to be an auto buff himself and owned a Baleno) had a look at it. " Impressive" , he said , " This is what tuning should be. You Tune for efficiency and get that extra HP and Torque as bonus".
I fully agree. Very good job , Ron.

Re: Baleno - RDDreams Pro Street Setup - The new benchmark!
Forgot to pen down an update.
9000kms done in 2.5 months and car is in hibernation. Went on a drive to Munnar and I took the car from him and gave the Zen to drive. Fantastic in the ghats, power delivery and handling. Was takin it easy with a 3 month old baby in the car.
Well Anish is happy and want to take it to the 'Next Level'. Ron, if you have the time, I can go to Kerala and pick up the car and drop it off.

Re: Baleno - RDDreams Pro Street Setup - The new benchmark!
Not right now man. Just swamped with work and pressure.
Too many things going on right now. Flow bench, Injector testing and study rigs being done, National Saloon car builds.
And all my pending work.
Sure we can take the power up to 100 BHp easy peasy. But at what cost ?
You will loose a lot of that magical low and mid-range.
You wont be able to run any pump gas. Only 93 or better.
There are 3 steps to taking it to the next level. Ive allready done the math.
a. Dump that tiny TB. Run a Honda TB or something in that size.
b. Increase your compression ratio.
c. Get a stand alone ECU.
Those 3 things will take you past 100 BHP. But I would not do it if it was may car. Cause I prefer that LT kind of feel from the present setup.
Ps:
And Im not doing anything for anish till he posts a proper feedback, himself.
Funny how people used to make fun of RDD saying we dont do car builds. Now that we are. Nobody is opening their mouth.
