Thank you RDD - Another RD saved from the Gallows
My story is one of those typical stories at RDD:
Being in awe of the RD; jumping into getting one; being ripped off by every single mech; a lot of frustration; stumbling onto RDD; getting onto the learning curve, hard work; and finally - BLISS!
I just finished rebuilding my bike in the basement. I got her an RDD re-bore, crank and CDI. After six whole months of re-building - I am in seventh heaven.
The bike runs well and compared to what I was expecting from a US spec, pulls nice and strong in low range - courtsey the kick ass CDI.
Since I already had UNIs on, I thought I was good to go. But I screwed up on the jetting. It fluttered like hell and I fouled three sets of plugs trying to jet it right. I tried to troubleshoot the excess oil on my plugs in every way I could. Drained the transmission oil, reduced the premix, down-jetted several sizes, played with the timing but with very little improvement. I was constantly scared of ruining my freshly built motor.
I came running to Ron for help, which he was gracious enough to offer. For anybody who is thinking of running UNIs; please buy the kit from Ron because jetting is a skill that he has mastered over many years. It was foolish to risk it with a new motor. I sincerely thank Ron for sorting out the issues and putting up with all those calls. I also thank Shuvo for patiently answering all my questions that stemmed out of trying to protect my six months worth of work. He made installating the CDI a breeze. And lastly thank you everybody else at RDD – for putting up that mountain of knowledge on the forum. I am greatly indebted.

Good stuff Aalap. The jetting assistance is definitely the reason to buy it from Ron.

Glad your bike is up and running. Smart move getting the US spec and crank setup by us.
While its not rocket science to jet a bike. Its really not worth risking an engine just to save a few bucks.
Plus the hours of frustration and most people will blow any money they saved on just fouled plugs.

Dustdevil has also donated a top of the line Millers Tig welding setup.
Expect to see some kick ass chambers and car exhausts from RDD in the months to come. All thanks to Dustdevil.
Im proud to have such highly qualified and exp. guys on RDD.

Thanks for the kind words Ron, but they're not due yet. It wouldn't be fair on my part to take any credit if the welding machine doesn't work.

Was talking to Ron today, when he told me I could do a clean pull to the redline once in a while but only exactly the way he told me to.
And I did.
She pulls like a rocket. She's pure awesomeness when she shoots into the power band. Ohhh that scream... Nirvana! And it has only been 50 odd kilometers since the rebuild.
Why, oh why did you show me the other side of 6000 rpm, big man!? I can't touch the throttle again till I get a chastity belt for my right hand now

Just be careful.

And at no cost do the Mukund Move which is putting a fat on the back seat and holding the throtell pined wide open for as long as the nice road is.
On a build as wild as yours you need to keep a very close eye on fuel flow.
