Bike Starts in Half Kick

Post by actamol »

Hi All,
Thought i will share this with everyone.
Now a days as the dry spell has crept in (Amchi Mumbai) my Yam RX 135 1998 born starts in Half a kick in the early morning on a cold heart that too with out applying the choke. Before that it used to be quiet a tedious job to start her even with the choke on in the early mornings had to kick the butt at-least 5 to 6 times.
Had a lengthy discussion with Rajesh aka Rajesh Jeswani & both of us agreed that as the humidity levels have come down quiet a lot the starting trouble has vanished.

The biggest surprise being that it gave me a mind blowing average of 36.68 Km-pl \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ that too in City riding conditions (Bumper to Bumper Traffic Most of the Time as i stay in a very crowded locality in Dadar). At the time of installing the goodies my life used to give me an economy of 31.something per liter however at each and every fill it started increasing roughly by km pl.(Dread the day when she will throw a figure of 60 Km pl [-o< :?: [-o< :?: [-o< :?: .

Thanks Ron Thanks Rajesh (For tolerating me)

Wow Amol isnt it what we all want? i guess u guys are rt. Climate change. I hope my bike reacts to the climate change the same way as yours inspite of your bike being on a chamber! mine still returns 25 on a stock pipe and a stock engine. i blame it on my way of riding though.

Its a newly built stock 1st OS engine Ron. so its running on stock 17.5 and 165 jets and airscrew at 1-1/2 turns, needle clip in the centre. fiddled with the carb settings and this is the best i got. so i wonder why it should return so less when other stock bikes give as high as 35! could it be timing? as you know it has a 90/100 kit.

I dont cook this stuff up man.
Its a known fact that if your engine suddenly starts behaving better with a change in weather. It means your jetting was out earlier.

Find out what the Compresion of the engine is Some rebore's give ok numbers. Some give crappy numbers.
I like to see at least 140 PSI on a RX

Then figure out what RPM range the engine is being operated in where the guy is getting good mileage.
Match his RPM operating range and you will get better mileage. Optimum mileage will be obtained while running the bike between 3500-5500 RPM
ANything outside this will drop mileage.

You are not a true 2 stroker if you dont know this much.
Same RD350 I could get it to give me 24 same bike could also give 14
All dpends on where and how you ride it.

Engine Compression 100 PSI.Running on a 1st Oversize Seized Piston. Up-jetting was done at the time of Installing the RDD CDI,100/90 Kit & Chinoy Filter filter .
17.5 Pilots,Clip in the Middle Position,190 Main Jets.(Was on 165 Main Jets before the Installation & used to get a figure around 31 Kmph)
Riding her on the highways @ 100 Kmph most of the time.
You can confirm the same with Rajesh Jeswani.
Got a figure of 34.33 Kmph this time around.Had hit reserve @80,800 Kms.Petrol filled 5.33 Liters,Hit reserve @ 80,983
183/5.33 = 34.33 kmpl

I dont know what you guys are saying.
Are you complaining about Bad Mileage
Or are you just saying your happy with the mileage ?

Mileage and optimum jeting setup are not one and the same.

If you have some issues with a RDD Product post up in customer support.

If you want to fine tune your jetting start a log with Temp / Humdity and how the bike runs.
This will help you tune in the right direction.

Technically when the weather changes you should change your jeting. Mikuni have a slide rule which tells you how much to change yoru jeting for a given change in weather.

@chinoy:- It's Okay.Really really satisfied.
@Rajesh Jeswani:- Bro am going to file a RX Interest litigation in the High Court or Consumer Court if Yamaha does not respond to my threat mail to them.
