my RD back to life!!

Post by nitesh »

Hey guys.. id like to thank Ron and RDD for giving us a great product .. the DIGI CDI.. its been more than two years since my engine had gone bust.. n the CDI was lying with me for more than a year.. culdnt find the time to fit it.. many thanks to ravikiran for helping me get my engine repaired n for all the help needed for the CDI.. this vacation i decided to start the bike anyhow.. or sell the ' white elephant'.. got the wiring harness n went step by step as instructed.. took me just about 35 mins to do everything n viola!! the bike now sounds crisper n the engine is smooth like never before. i was riding my RD after more than two years! since the bore is new.. i havnt tested the performance but am very sure it will be amazing once i complete the running in.. am posting a video link of the bike which is now also fitted with US spec pipes n a stock box Chinoy Filter filter.. thanks to RDD once again..

@Nitesh, Congrats on the build. I've mentioned that US Spec pipes on them. Could you be kind enough to let us know how you managed to fix them on the Indian RD frame ? Cause I am in US with a NOS set of pipes, next time I am in India I would like to get them and plug 'em on.

Cheers :)

Hi Varun, its not that difficult to fit the US pipes...you can fit it in two ways...
1. Fit the clamp of the silcencer near the riders footrest where it joins the bend pipe to the place underneath the engine. Measure the length difference at the rear foot pegs and the silencer back clamps. Make a shaped clamp like this [=o==o=] (you need 2 of them and here o represents holes)where the distance between the holes of the clamps will be the exact distance you measured as the distance earlier. But make sure you are making sure both the ends are at the same level as you have to align the factory provided dent for the pipes to accomodate the center stand.

2. 2nd option is to fit the rear foot pegs first, with teh bend pipe also fitted. Then see whether the center stand and side stand aligns well. If so again make a shape like this and then use it for joining in the place under the rider's foot peg under the engine. This will make sure that the clamp fitted wont be seen outside.

I have got it fitted with the first way and have some pics in my mail. If you would like to see it pls do PM me ur mail id will send it

@JKV,
Thank you very much for the info. I have sent the mail info as a PM. You're a life saver man. I am sitting on these pipes and I didn't know what to do. Thought of putting it over the evil bay but I don't seem to get the time between school and work to keep checking it replying and then shipping it. Will get the pipes home this around and fix them like you said. Kindly, mail me the pics as well.

Cheers :)

P.S- But for the benefit of the masses here at RDD, can you post the pics here as well ? I am sure it would be very helpful. Why spend a bomb in India for shitty pipes when you can get these pipes for cheap and fix 'em. :)
