RXZ on RDD Pipes

Post by crazydiablo »

Never really posted a feedback for this bike. I have around 700kms on this build, I dont use it much, but today it got flogged to Nandi and back (A solid 170kms).

Setup:
RDDreams Digital CDI Ver IV
RDD Stage 2 Porting (what Ron calls mild street porting)
High Compression 5 spd Head with RDD O-Ring.
RZ Reeds with RDD fibre petals
TZR250 28MM Downdraft Flat slides supplied and setup by RDD.
Chinoy Filter Pod Filter
Custom RDDreams Chambers with Hydroformed Headers

Top speed around 130kmph on the speedo with 84kg rider sitting upright. Riding along the RDs felt fun. Super linear acceleration till 120kmph.

This pipe is pure Sex. I am just sad that you dont build pipes man, its a sad decision. Yeah i know the history so I wont argue much. It sounds like a sex bomb when it hits the pipe.

I wont write much, because people wont believe me if I write too many reviews. Well everyone loves the bike. Your customer is happy. Mukund will write the rest of the review.

Should take a while, Mukund must be still cleaning himself up...

I'm really looking forward to reading about this one. First time the old boy's popped his cherry riding a piped RDD build...

Yeah its come out real nice.
When it hits the pipe it even leaves the RZ like its standing still.
The pipe is so quiet when its not on the pipe you can go past a cop and he wont even look over his shoulder.

Muks found some back road into town. With unending straights and curves. He was flying. Now you know better than to hand him the keys when he asks for a small ride.

LOL Muks and the RXC
The bike is sweet. 700 clicks and pulling like a fresh motor.
She moves really well for a little 135cc motor.

I still think it will surprise you if you put it on the dyno.

Im back to building pipes but only for very select people who I know will not
a. Copy my design and say they improved it.
b. Will take the pipes to the grave with them.

All my pipes will be etched with my signature. So you can tell the originals from the copies.

I was hoping he wouldn't hole the piston cause your plugs are a bit on the lean side. But after being WoT for over 30 min. I could touch the cylinder head. It wasnt even hot. trust Muks to find a road you can hold it WOT non stop for 30 minutes on LOL.

I wanted to shoot a video from the RZ. The RZ doing 100+ and then the RX pipe hits and pulls away from the RZ.
Then we try to keep up.

Considering its just a street port, I think its all in the pipe. Love the sound of the pipe when it hits the power band. Its was fun to seen Mukund twisting the throttle, then it hits the pipe and everything seems to be in fast forward. Voila he is gone.

Shuvo says the bike is not scary enough. I think its scary. Funny how pure RX experience is diluted with a linear powerband. But i think its come out very nice.

I did not expect the bike to run so strong. Its its first road trip and my first every on a piped two stroke. Well I am hooked.

Ajay: You should have come man, it was a good ride. Check out the RX anytime you want.

shuvo needs a whack on the head with the largest spanner one can find.
He is used to razor sharp JC Road pipes that are all or nothing in a very narrow power band.

If you want scary its very simple. Buy a crappy pipe port the engine for a narrow RPM power band dont touch the transfers. Just make the exhaust port really big and get scared.
Id like to see how those setups pull after a few thousand clicks on the pipe.

Its like the YPVS some guys like to disconnect the YPVS so they get a scary hit.
Im happy with the YPVS doing its thing.

Wow, what a bike you have man, I had the ride of my life on any RX ever. I have seen and ridden RXs from sometime in the mid 80s but this certainly has been the best.

I often wondered why you hardly brought this machine out on the road and was glad to finally see the bike. Being late as usual, I hardly saw the bike move on the way up or down the hill.

So folks, an innocent chance of riding this bike from the nandi hills turn off on the highway to the only petrol pump in devanahalli(one mile), I hardly got into the power of the pipe. Almost bumped into a villager on his herohonda crossing the road on his bike and looking only to the left. Something told the poor villager that there is a devil around so in the last instant, he braked and looked to his right and saw me move in front of him avoiding the crash. I was actually busy pressing the horn switch instead of hitting the rear brakes. So while filling petrol, I was thinking of this bike as a one of a kind thing. Mohit who was carefully watching his bike being ridden commented on me hardly getting into the pipe's power. Considering how boring the ride back into town and then cutting thru traffic all the way to white-field would be, felt that it would be better to take the country road which goes to whitefield around town. Then just asked Mohit assuming the answer to be a "no" if i could ride the bike for longer and was delighted to hear a "yeah sure man". That is when started the ride of my life on any of the RX series bikes.

The bike has one hell of an amazing setup makes me begin to wonder/understand what a true race bike will be like. Hats off to the builders Ron and Mohit for this beautiful machine. Makes life worth living to see creations such as these.

The power was too much for me in the first two gears as a couple of times the front wheel was up in the air. Thus I needed to shift in a hurry in these two gears and then get into third try and control the bike, wait for pipe to kick in and then enjoy the bike. The bike enters the power band around 5-6k and the pipe kicks in a bit later. In third itself the power before the pipe kicking in was quite a lot and then the pipe kicks in and she just flies off. I remember looking at Deb on his RD near one of the turns and I could read his eyes telling me, you bugger wait, this time I will kick your butt and he was keeping up with me till the pipe kicked in and then boom and the RX was gone. Knowing him and his hard riding style and the fact that he was over the moon enjoying the Dream-CDI and yet this bike flying away is testimony to the power of the bike.
After that when Deb and I were chatting he said in his characteristic style, man this is one sure shot RD *beep* bike which will take out most of the LTs in town.

A couple of times, I was in the power of the pipe and needed to slow down. Dropping one gear, I could literally feel the power of the horses on my back. It felt like all the horses had transformed into some kind of bees with stings poking my back waiting to be unleashed. That is one unforgettable sensation that I hope all lovers of bikes experience sometime.

One thing for sure, whoever rides such bikes need to be extra-extra careful on the roads. I needed to open my eyes as wide as I could and watch each and every movement on the road and judge very very conservatively all the time. One small itsy bitsy tiny mis-judgement, or one small let us take it attitude can easily be fatal. The riding skills needed to have fun on this bike and do it casually at that is something I hope I can acquire.

The only other experience that I could compare with this ride was the track-slut of Sendil and George on the Coimbatore track sometime in April 2009. That power-band was way higher up though.

Three Cheers to the builders :bow1:

One of the things I like about Crazyd.
He has been around me from the early days.
He is one of the few guys who has never exploited that situation. He pretends to be non technical. But has a brain like a sponge.
He then takes what he learns and focuses it on setting up what ever I build him to run well. Be it the RD or the RZ or the Baleno.
I guess the Gods see this and reward him with good Karma. Cause all his builds come out really well and are pretty reliable too.

Its not like we haven't had a few hick-ups along the way. But he has always stayed the course and been a loyal friend thru thick and thin. So when one more of his builds turn out really sweet I think its just Karma.

He is also a master at knowing when not touch or finger a setup. His ability to spot a sweet setup and then leave it alone even exceeds my own. I guess he is not Greedy.
the pipe would run better but it took a fall at the track and the pipe is damaged. So power is not at optimum. We need to remove those dents from the pipe and she should run even better.

Like muks said riding a well chambered two stroke in town is not easy. The wilder the bike the more time it takes to psyche your mind out into trying to control it. Id like to see other chambered and ported RXs hold WOT for 30 minutes. Or last a few 1000 clicks.
Crayd bring the bike over one of these weekends. Id like to go up a jet size just to be safe. And maybe we can hook up a TPS.

Nice.

@crazydiablo
Are you running an rdd modded crank and an aftermarket rod?

Please dont compare this to Anand's bike. Not even Ajith's bike.

This is on a brand new crank, which wont hold up very long with this abuse.

Dont worry about the crank.
Rather talk to me about it I will give you a bullet proof solution.
Its a stock crank which has been re-balanced and welded.
It will out last your bore.

The key to crank life is
a. Balance
b. Temps
c. Oil
d. Quality of bearings.

Wow..lucky are thou who experienced the RDD pipe.. :D . And why do these rides happen when I am not around  .

I have ridden Shovo's bike with chamber which was prepped for the Nandi Hill climb. That thing really scared me with it's powerband hit. It would be nice if both the bikes are bought in for comparison or Dyno.

Bottomline is, powerband is something to be enjoyed and relished, which a good setup always provides.
