Patience pays like nothing else

Post by mukund »

Hi Everyone,

Finally got my RX 135 to a shape I have been waiting to get it to for many years. For many it seems to be easy to get a bike to run like they want it to.

Guys who seem to know it all tell me, Just get advice from so and so, put in that piece from here, get that part from there or leave your bike in that place and your bike will be the best makes it seem so easy. I hope some people are so lucky that they can fulfill their dreams with such ease. To me it seems like, you just put a big paper on a table, get some paint and next day you have a masterpiece of a painting. Folks, as far as I can see this is one easy way to kid oneself into believing that everything is so easy. All things look easy when spoken off or when looked at in retrospect. This has been my experience in this world.

For me it has been a long story bits of which have come out in various posts that I have made earlier. Briefly, I brought the bike from a showroom in oct 2001, bike got stolen sometime in june2002. The police recovered it for me in march 2003. Ever since I got it back, it went for 3 rebores, 2 paint jobs and complete rebuilds at famous mechs and not so famous ones and somehow the bike never felt as good as before. Then I get to know of RDDreams, read up, put cdi, filters, jets, lots of improvement, but barrel and rebore were shagged. So first rebuild after that, was full of new parts like 5 speed barrel, gearbox etc. Much better than before but yet to gimme the satisfaction of running well. It is something in the head that says good or bad but hard to describe for a guggu like me in terms of compression or revs or rpms etc. But is a mechanism inside the head i trust.

Finally, decided to do the bike up again. Thing helped a lot with all the OE parts like new 5speed gear box, crank bearings, OE pistons and what nots. Ron blessed the barrel and reed valves and after all this got on the bike, running in complete and here I'm finally thrilled at the way the bike is running. I realized that time the one thing I abandoned this time was the greed. In terms of I want the bike up at any cost on such and such a day. I abandoned, the greed in terms of I want to have all the goodies in one go and then I will be happy and such things.

All thanks to Ron and RDD friends. Their continuous help is what has got my bike into good shape. Patience for any rebuild is a must in my humble opinion. Wanting to take my girlfriend on a ride and showing off my done up bike this weekend is a wonderful thing but pushing for the bike to get to done to show off to the girlfriend is a no no [-X

Keep being there like a light house folks.

Cheers

I love the way this bike has turned out. For a street setup is absolutely SWEET!

Mindblowing low end for a 5 speed barrel. The initial I would attribute to the new tricks in street porting plus the advanced timing and CDI. At 5K it just takes off. Revs to around 9k odd I believe. This is truly the new combo for the RXs. Love it! Take care of her.

Thanks babba its all about the love and passion. Like you explained to us.

This is what the two stroke trip is all about.
A holly communion between man and machine.

Once you get on this trip you will wonder what you where doing with your veichells all these years.
Im pretty sure the girl frnd will find something to critize. Its very hard to get the fairer sex to appricate the fine nuances of two stroke tuning.
But we hope she will go easy on you.
What If you pull a few power wheelies in front of her. lol
To vilify a great man is the readiest way in which a little man can himself attain greatness.

Update after about 3000 km after run-in.

The bike is fun and I have been enjoying riding around about 50-60 km everyday. Bike is smooth on power and feels the same as it did after the run-in and the first few blast rides.

I have been using this bike as a commuter to ride to work everyday. I stay with parents at the south western end of town near Mysore road and work is at the east end of town in whitefield. Thus i need to ride through the heart of town through traffic daily and have been having small joys of taking on many fast riders and showing off to them what riding through traffic is all about. It is more about how far ahead one can see and judge the way traffic is going to move and plotting one's route through it. I have seen a few very good riders on various bikes. Yesterday there was one insane guy riding a pulsar 180 and was great thru traffic. It was nice to catch him up repeatedly and let him pull away etc... today it was another chap with a new yamaha 4-joke and I had let him get ahead for a bit and he seems to have vanished. Thus every day when I reach office, I have been smiling ear to ear and the same when I get back home. The rides up and down have become my daily entertainment. Hope the bike continues like this forever... [-o<

Yesterday a colleague of mine was complaining about how frustrating it is to drive a 4 wheeler thru traffic from east of town to south of town. I was explaining to him about how he can have so much fun on a two-wheeler. His wife never lets him ride a two-wheeler and so I thought it would be a good idea to take him home through the outside town route which goes further out east and then turns right going all around town taking away the painful first gear clutch break routine along with the road rage which builds up during such circus. It usually takes him about 1.30-2 hrs to get home in peak traffic. The out of town route is twice as long but takes about the same time in fact less to reach home. So after him driving his car thru this new route, i needed to use the NICE road around town for about 20-22 kms to reach my place. Here is where i put on the stop watch at the toll-gate and rode as fast as i could to check the time. I was surprised when I found that the entire 20-22km stretch took me 12mins20secs which translates to an average speed of around 100kmph. The best part is the bike engine was cool after this blast of a ride that i did.

Thanks again to RDD for this and wanted to post about the fun I have been having for a while

Cheers
