Hi,

I'm Husain, a new member to this forum. Heard a lot about it from my friend so thought I'd join.

I live in Hyderabad currently but I drop into Bangalore quite often. Am totally crazy about bikes but probably don't know as much as most of you here. The Pulsar 180 (2002 model) is the bike I ride currently. Have held on to it becuase my dad gifted it to me in college (sentimental value).

I do some very basic tinkering with my bike - just basic maintenance stuff.
Once, when I was feeling adventurous, I tried to bleed the front disc brake, as the brake was spongy. After wasting a lot of brake fluid and making no progress, I had to take the bike to a proper service center and get it fixed. (I was not as good as I thought )
Another time, I was able to remove the fuel tank, but I have no clue why I did it

Well, the main reason for joining is, I am seriously considering a ~400cc bike.
So I would like to hear from you which one I should consider, how I can obtain and maintain one.
I like the race category bikes (full fairing, mono-shock etc.). Am not so much into street bikes.
I was seriously considering the recently launched Kawasaki Ninja 250R. However, my friend suggested that I could invest a bit more and get a good 400cc bike which has double the power (~60bhp?).

Welcome Husainz...before thinking of buying a import..think can you manage the spares and maintainence..if yes, then fine..if not then Ninja will be a good option....and meanwhile..if you have ridden a proper 2 stroke bike with a pipe..you will forget about four stokes.

I dream of owning a SBK one day. I am sure spares and maintenance will always be a hassle. I'll consider the 400cc as good practice, maybe?
No, I haven't ridden a 'proper' 2 stroke with pipe. Have ridden a Yam RX135 5-Speed with pipe, was great! (does that qualify?)
However, somehow I have a personal preference to 4-strokes.

Buying an expensive bike 2 or 4 stroke, old or new, faired or unfaired, depends on your age, income, willingness to work on the bike, family responsibilities among other things.
Be patient, take your time to read old threads, see what members here have gone through to own their dream machine, and you'll get an idea of what it takes to own a fast bike.
