Here to rock'n'ride

Post by Roopin »

Greeting bikers!

Me found my way into RDD, courtesy Siddharth Deb, Mukund & RD Chinoy himself.

Raced the RDDreams project yesterday, at the M S C K Nandi Hill Climb.

Ron had painstakingly tricked his brand new Royal Enfield 500 Classic for the event and boy it delivered, on all counts!!

It blistered the competition by a little over 5 seconds over a 1.6 km course up the last 7 hairpins of the hill.

The bike was "pure pull" from the start and even managed to sprint upto 4th on the three straights leading to the top. The long hours into preparing the bike included late hours and early mornings at Ron's tool room, even into the very-night before the race.

Many such minor but crucial adjustments thought out by Ron made humungous difference on the ride-feel, translated into the win.

The best part was when the 2nd & 3rd placed bikers (past-winners on much fancier looking bikes) were continuously enquiring on the "Mechanic of the bike", as they were couldn't digest the fact of a stock bike donning a saree guard pipping them to the line.

Now for the Oscar-drama :-)

Cheers to Ron & his RE !!

Definitely had to give it to the entire RDD crew including :

Mukund for hooking me up for this ride, being his ever-estatic self and keeping our spirits at full-revs including giving beer-baths.

Pradeep for giving me the most-reqd. advice on identifying Hairpins apex.

Shibu being at the start advising on critical the 1st right.

Siddharth Deb for taking-off to see me Ride. The Guru's missed all my previous races.

Shuvthing replying to my shouting by going true bronco on his run. Rodeo-man!

Senthil for taking care of the vehicles and spares etc etc.

Kartick for patiently working on the project spending load of time and travel.

Race on folks!

Awesome ride Macha. We couldn't have done it without you.

The old girl really sang her heart out. For you.
one thing I can promise you and that is next time she will be making even more power. And pulling even harder. Way way way harder.

This was just stage 1 mods with under a month to get it done.
We still have stage 2,3, & 4 to go.

Its funny how all the bullet bashers got together and won on a bullet lol.
You cant stand Bullets, nether can I.
But this girl is something else.

All the RDD Boys want to throw a party for you.
So keep your calender open over the weekend babba.

Welcome!
With the sari guard or not is what Im waiting to see LOL
I spoke to a few of the guys in the Bullet class.

Seems they are not keen on moding the Classic. I dont blame them. because you make once change and the ECU had no idea what you've changed.
And your up shit creak. Only I know what hell we went thru getting the ECU to run with our mods.
You could always run a carb. but then the ECU wont fire your ignition. Its a fun bike. But it takes a little brains to mod it.

Ha Ha!! Look who it is!!! Didn't expect to see you this soon here...

Roopin, bro, my advice are like farts in the wind. I am only more than eager to hand them out.
Don't kid yourself, that run was all you, man. You learnt the track and the bike quickly, listened to what made sense and applied your learnings, your way. If that is not the sign of a perfect rider, I don't know what is.

But more importantly, welcome to our online joint.

He keeps asking everybody for feedback.
He asked me quite a few times and each time I told him the same things.

Babba your a good rider. You have years of Exp. you know all the answers. Follow what your gut tells you.
All the answers and all the right lines and in your head. Forget what anybody says and just ride from the heart.

I thought I could wrestle the bull.
What he does to it isnt fit for publication lol.
And we really didnt make it easy for him.
In fact we did what ever we could to make his ride difficult.
From insisting on runing the stock seat, at the stock height, not taking off the footpegs, or the sari gurad.
He was a good sport. What ever you give him he will ride the tits of it.
