How RDD products made a difference.
I finally got the RDD CDI installed and working on my Shogun (yes one of the few lucky Shoguns to be running this setup). Instead of repeating what a lot of people here have already been saying, I'll just quote some figures which will speak for itself.
My Shogun has a 3.26 x 16 rear wheel setup and all speeds are speedo readings.
Shogun running stock air filter, stock CDI - 2nd gear top speed - about 50 kph and 3rd gear top speed - about 75 kph.
Shogun running RDD filter, stock CDI - 2nd gear top speed - about 60 kph and 3rd gear top speed - about 80 kph.
Shogun running RDD filter, RDD CDI (running approximately stock timing 18 deg BTDC) - 2nd gear top speed - about 70 kph and 3rd gear top speed - about 90 kph.
With just these 2 products and without touching the engine, I am easily seeing a difference in top speed of 15-20 kph in the first 3 gears, not to mention the smoothness in power delivery.
Thank you Ron for these great products.
Thank you Torque for telling me in advance what problems I might encounter and the way to go about solving it when setting up the coil plate and timing.
Thank you Arjun for posting how you did the RDD CDI setup on your Shogun.

Its not just how fast your bike can go, what matters is how quickly you can get there.

@ajith - The difference to me is that I dont have to worry about running out of revvs when overtaking someone in the city and when i open the throttle i look this inside my helmet.
@leoangel - This is the link http://www.rddreams.com/forum/viewtopic ... un#p189696 , but in my setup the pulse coil is at about 11 O Clock as against Arjun's which is at 5 O Clock.

This is part of the magic of the RDD CDI.
No matter what the engine. 100-175cc the curve will improve the way the bike moves.
You simply set the max advance as recommended by the manufacturer and it will work around that point.
For some reason finally people are realizing how good the CDI is because sales are going up.
There has been a huge spike in number of units sold over the past month.
Its sad that it took so long for people to figure this out.
Its even sadder that some guys with vested interests have been running down the CDI for years.
Now that the trust is out. I wonder where the anti RDD Crowd / guys who tried saying the kit is crap are going to hide their faces.
And its only going to get better. With the Pro Unit coming out.

Re: How RDD products made a difference.
In India most people dont want to get their hands dirty, RDD products need atleast a little bit of DIY. The DIY scene in India is on the rise and I believe this is the reason for RDD products getting more exposure locally.
Its not just how fast your bike can go, what matters is how quickly you can get there.

well Duuuh
Which performance part in the world doesnt need you to get your hands dirty.
Only in India you will have some low IQ twit who thinks he can buy a performance part and not get his hands dirty.
Off course if your a lath sahib then you can allways pay somebody to install your product.

Re: How RDD products made a difference.
hehe you are absolutely right, anyway even though it took me an really really long time to figure out the setup (I almost gave up on it and it was my last ditch effort which worked), it was totally worth the wait.

Re: How RDD products made a difference.
BTW I noticed you may not have done the +4 deg over stock on your install.
Do that and see how the power goes up.
As it is. I just think the engine will rev out more but not make a lot more power.
If you do the +4 or +6 then your in for a suprise. Its only going to get better the more you advance it.

Re: How RDD products made a difference.
Yeah, I met torque few days back and he told me he'll help me time it right. My initial target was to get the bike running right with stock timing, now that has been achieved, will look it fine tuning it.

So you have only started to see some benefits.
The really lolly is still to come.
