It will be in Kerala for the whole month, a lot of hard running around. I doubt he wants to try mileage mode, plus its running full time AC.

Ok I was wondering why Crazy D was going on and on about the 9 Km / LTR in all out power mode.
That is with runing the AFRs at 11-12:1
It is because other Balenos that have been camed and ECUd typically return a mileage of 4-5 Km so he is actually happy about the mileage.
Id still like to know what the economy mode maps do because Im condifent that it will give 18-20 and people will buy this setup just for the mileage.

I guess it was high time I posted a review about my experience with Mohith's car. First of all, my apologies to Ron for being late in posting this review but at the same time I'm thankful to Ron as well as Mohith for having made it possible to have a mind-blowing experience with the car.
After having read and heard a lot about this car, I just couldn't help myself from expecting the outcome of this build. The last I remember driving the car is stock form was when I drove the car to Ron's place to leave it at the dungeon for the mods. And the transition just left me amazed. I must say I had a wonderful vacation this time as this car was major reason for this excitement.
I could make out there was an immense difference in the feel of the car the minute I started her up. First impression I felt was with the way the car idled. A steady and smooth idle at 750 rpm even though it was running an after market cam.
The car felt so smooth than before. There seemed to be power everywhere in whicever gear it was. The way it pulled right from the word go and from low rpms all the way to the redline was simply and absolutely AWESOME!!!!! Another thing that amazed me was the torque of the car. It had lots of torque and the smoothnes and crisp acceleration in low rpm was just mind blowing. This was actually fun to drive in the city as well as while driving up hill. It could pull easily in 3'rd or even 2'nd gear even with the AC on. This was a blessing and I enjoyed it thoroughly during the drive on kerala roads.
The car revved so fast and I used to hit the rev limiter within no time in the first 2 gears. I got used to the wheelspins and the torque steer and the acceleration was just insane.
To comment about the powerband, I would rather say you need to feel it rather than talk about it. This was one thing always noticeable with Ron's builds. A really wide and wild power band pulling neatly all the way from 2.5k upto redline. The rush of power at 4.5k was just so awesome and the exhaust note at that particular point was like music to the ears.
The car handled very well with the tyres, Konis and brakes complementing the setup just the way it had to be. It was fun driving on corners and it would just stick to the road. Not once did I hear the tyre squeal on twisties.
I was mostly on power mode and enjoyed it more than the mileage mode. To talk about the mileage, I was getting constant 10 kmpl for city driving with the AC switched on through out. Otherwise it was around 11.5 - 12 kmpl on highways that too with luggage in the boot.
To sum things up, I must congratulate Ron and for his amazing work on this setup. Way to go Ron and its your typical RDD built which is not just meant for Power or fancy figures. Its a combination of Power, performance and the most important factor Relaibility. Not once did the temperature guage climb beyond the half way mark and it could run on pump gas without any knocking or any hassles as such. Just goes on to show the amount of hard work and the time out into this build has come out well.

Go for it man. Even Id like to see what she can do in 5th. My Gut says she should do 220 at least.
If you cross 200 Ill get you a special Plaque from the Land speed Club.

Ps:Saw some retards arguing about RPM vs Speed somewhere.
Doesn't apply even a 5 PSI difference in Tyre pressure can give you different results. Forget about changing your tyres then the diff. would be more.

Cool so u post at last. Car had a good work out for a month or so.
Ron, double ton is only a matter of finding the right road. We should do a run on NICE road maybe. Yeah rpm vs speed is always different. Besides for the tyre combo that i am running we tend to show lower top speeds. I have seen claims of stock balenos hitting 185 or 190kmph where as both out balenos max out at 175kmph.

Your need to stick it in over drive and just idle to get that kind of mileage. Im only intrested in real world mileage improvement and Im very very confident that if you can get your self to test mileage mode we will get numbers nobody else in India can match.
The technical reasons as to why this is so. Will only become apparent when you test it in mileage mode.

One more thing is you can measure the circumference of your wheel and that of a stock Baleno then I can tell you what your real speed was when you took that picture.

IIRC its around 7mm lesser. 589mm vs 596mm for the stock. I can re confirm.

BTW I found a service manual and spare parts catalog for the Baleno.

Just had a bet with Poonam about the cars mileage. The debate was whether I should drive down to kerala in the Zen or Baleno. I said the Baleno will give 15kmpl and she say no ways. So the deal is 15kmpl + with no less than 80kmph. Bet is for a PS3 game or equivalent shopping for her.

Just talk to me before you leave for some tips and considerations. Ive near really thought of runing a car long long distance on mileage mode but if ever there was a challange for this build this will be it.

My own zen gave me 21.79 kms. per liter on one Pune - Bombay trip (8.63 liters for a distance of 188 kms. door to door, Pune Camp to Andheri Lokhandwala, speeds varied between 70 and 100). That is the highest it has ever done, but driven slightly less sanely it crosses 20 kmpl easy. Driven rabidly, (throttle pinned and speedo stuck to the 160 mark for as long as possible on the expressway) the lowest fuel-efficiency I have ever seen on the highway (including bombay traffic to get to AndherI) is 16.93 kmpl. My only point was that it is difficult for something that outweighs the zen by 250 kgs, 600 cc, and 0.02 cd to better it in the mileage stakes. It would be fairer to compare it with something in its own weight and cc category.

...must be single person, without AC and luggage and overinflated tyres...yeah if the rims are any oversized than earlier 13incher and that fifth gear with that ultra tall overdrive....still
