RDD CAI on the Zen MPFI

Post by Kaushik »

Installed the RDD setup last saturday and lets just say I am in love with the result :D

Theres a significant improvement in torque and drivability at low engine speeds and the acceleration has definitely improved. This is precisely what I was looking for and I am very happy with the outcome.

A few key features:
1. I drive with the a/c on always, Chennai you see. Earlier when the compressor used to kick-in, there used to be perceptible drop in power and the car used to bog down. This effect has reduced significantly.
2. Earlier quick acceleration meant, turning the a/c off for a few seconds just to pass that trundling truck - not anymore :D
3. I loooove that rorty sound from the intake now during acceleration!! - it is almost like a free-flow exhaust with a mild bass note......and guess what, my wife loves the sound too!!

I am not going to go into numbers and figures, simply because I dont have any - dont plan to chase them either. All I can say is I am very happy with the improvements. To put it in words everyone can recognise and relate to:
Car acceleration with RDD CAI with a/c switched on > Stock car acceleretion with a/c switched off.

Ron, super product as usual man!!

Thanks Sir.
This is just stage one.
I will be sending you the second half shortly with clear simple instructions.
For those interested the RDD CAI is priced at Rs 8500/- and we do not use plastic or fiber parts like K&N.
(Which Crack and break ask Jatin for more info he has been thru the Exp.)
We now use Aliminum or mild steel. for the interface. On the cars we support.
So far we have a CAI for the Zen and the Baleno.
CAIs for other cars are being developed.

Would you like a switch or a knob.
With a switch I can give you two options stock / more power
With a knob you will have very fine control over the richness fully shut it will be stock the more you turn it the richer it gets.
If it was my own car Id go with the knob. Only problem would be installing it. You may have to drill a hole in your dash.
Let me check out the zen dash and find a good place to mount it.

There is a place on the right side of the steering column where u can put the extra switches. A knob would be great....power knob :D

Must have been sleepy. I meant to say i would plump for a remotely mountable knob.

Thanx Ron - I will go with your suggestion of the knob.
Well, as you mentioned, will need to figure out how and where to install it.

CrazyD, mine is the VXi, so there are switches already on the right side of the steering column - no more slots to install extra switches.

On the left side though, there is one slot remaining where I can install a switch......but a knob? not too sure where to put.

Normally above the provision for cigarette lighter, there is a round hole in the dash of zen which they just put a rubber bush. It used to be for the choke for the old carb model zen which can be used.
