Guardian angel is IN here!!!

Post by Jaggu »

let me start with A BIG BOW TO RON CHINOY:
This is my story, bought a 84 HT some 5 years back, happy that I got a RD but blissfully ignorant what RD can do, spent money fixing electrical and clutch and some general works.
Decided to move to Bangalore, and made a friend in another forum while trying to hunt for a mechanic. Met with this friend at the garage he recommended, but seeing the maestro at work (mech), decided to stay away from the garage and decided to tag the friend also from there.
Anyways met up with couple of other guys who recommended big builders in town but never ever managed to leave my babe with them. Finally decided to get my tools to town and start working on weekends when and if I get time.
My new friend was also desperate to find someone who can really put the glory back to his bike, he being the net guru found something and introduced me also to a online site called RDDREAMS.COM and I never realized what its gonna hit me and do to my biking life.
Met up with the RD DREAMS boys in Brigade and went to meet a person called RON at his home, who did the moderation of this site. Well to be honest I was confused after talking to him, was he real??
Anyways thanks to him and the forum, made a whole bunch of buddies all sorts in Bangalore. Time goes by with meets and posting and drags, never had the courage to ask Ron to open my engine and see what can be done, reason being was not sure if he would like to work with Indian customers (cant blame him also he had his own genuine reason).
Was running the bike it was, maybe a decarb and some servicing was done that’s all, then saw couple of bikes in the club doing some amazing stuff having passed through one particular basement ;)
My friend (the same ol one who introduced to RD DREAMS community) convinced and got his bike done by Ron and I was all J for that, he had mentioned my desire to Ron and I still remember Ron offering to do my engine through him, but sadly I was broke like hell at that time.
Then the drag bug bit us bad, all the enthu around me did something, I also wanted to contribute to the team but the desire to ride the 2 wheels was slowly wearing away (was wondering?? Did I become too old??).
Decided to sell the bike L coz some money was needed to fund some pet projects that I was carrying around but wanted to have that one night stand with the bike before to do that.
Managed to get the bike to that mysterious basement of Rons apartment and opened up, what we saw is stuff which I would not want to be reminded, hope gave its final toss when the guru also said not worth it mate especially if you are selling it. (wondered if he was offended and thought this as a cheap trick to get some extra moolah for the bike while selling). But knew Ron pretty well, he wouldn’t let out his hard earned secrets out that soon, so agreed on doing some minor jobs and getting the bitch out of his garage on the next Sunday.
Saturday a call comes from The Guru, “mate I have done some work on the bike” I was again confused non the least but a small GRINN was building inside me.
Anyways after the sat night hang over managed to get to the basement and Ron walks in with freshly done up cylinders, Me and my friend were with OH MY GAAAAAAAD look in our face.
Put the bike back together and took it for a small spin, believe me it was short ride but I knew my bike wouldn’t be the same again. Was too damn tired, so me in the car and my mate riding the bike took my babe back home, went back to friends place and was chilling to some beer and listening to some ranting from him about the power burst and stuff.
Monday morning blues and knew it would be a long day so had to overcome the desire to take the bike to office.
Tuesday morning, he he he he I have to take the bike out, who cares if the head lights only work on flash mode, riding it as usual, keeping in mind there is a run in off 10 kms. Did some 5 mts of riding and suddenly felt like my bikes 6th gear is lost, I had changed all 6 gears and bike is still pulling clean even at the 5k rev limit for the day and this much lugging only happens in the 4th or 5th gear with the old set up especially at the sedate mode I was riding it.
Then it struck U MORON remember somebody had worked on the bike last weekend, duhhhhhh. Pulled the bike to the side, I still have a clean stretch of about 3/4th kms before I hit traffic, decided to explore the bike and yes it still is a day to remember. The bike just pulls clean, crisp and I guess its just hitting the power band when its hitting the current 5k rev, took it to 5.5k though (sorry captain).
Good news is I have finished the run in and have a good clean stretch on the ride back home.
Bangy bikes here comes ur competition, with a liposuction job done by RD DREAMS. And believe me, money is Peanuts compared to the difference the work has made. Difficult task is how will the drag team convince me to part with the bike now. ;)

Cheers

yday night was revelation as i suspected... the actual power band is starting at 5k took it to 7k still strong, slight vibration in between more to do with lower half of engine i guess.. 120 came in easy in 6th gear accelaretaing from 80 with not much of an effort, so 140 should also be a reality as Ron mentioned without much fuss..keep it in mind these figures are magical for my bike...ddint want to do killa tactics with no head lights on ring road..
anyway i think a lil running and yep jetting needs to be done, bloddy thing heated up after few secs of stopping, jetting and plugs needed to be checked..
any idea what kind of plugs are these champions???

Your plugs one was the old plug and one was from Motors bike. Motor may remember better what plugs got used.
