Hello everyone

Post by ajitkpande »

Hello everyone,
I just came across this site a few days back and joined the community promptly. My name is Ajit Kumar Pande, I'm 62 years old and have owned an RD 350 since 1986. Its the only bike I ever owned. I purchased it in Shillong, Meghalya, and then was transferred to Hyderabad. I had been using it regularly for commuting to and from my office for a period of about 14 years, and then purchased a car and since then the bike is not used much. Even now its a pleasure to ride and save for the chain, brake linings, tyres & tubes, spark plugs and the headlight everything is original. Now I have a slight problem with oil leakage and no parts seem to be available in Jaipur (where I am presently living after retirement). I am eagerly looking forward to going through the posts on this site and am sure that they are going to be very useful for me since I have been doing all the minor servicing and tuning myself. Looking forward to a very fruitful interaction over the days to come.
Regards,
Ajit

welcome sir, and let me warn you on some of the popular topics here. I hope you dont mind few youngsters and not so youngsters (infact about to be oldies) indulge in some banter about specific non-RD related topics.

That said, I hope you will enjoy it here, and get your RD to the immaculate condition it deserves after such a lengthy first ownership.

Have you identified the exact location of the oil leak?

whatever you do, pls do not leave it at any mech place, to get these issues sorted out. Its better to ride with a slight oil leak compared with the horror stories you will have after opening the bike at the mech's place.
The advice to ‘be yourself’ is obviously nonsense.
But our brains accept this tripe as wisdom, because it is more comfortable
to believe that we have a strategy for life than to believe we have no idea how to behave.
