another hobby with motors!
Hello all - I have recently started a new chapter in my world of motor sports... motorcycles!
Well, I'll back up - I'm located in North Carolina, USA - I rode a little bit when I was a kid (years ago!) and then progressed to cars, then kids, boats, trucks, Mercedes and now, I'm starting on a bike.
I'm not sure if I'm even in the right place but I've been looking around the internet and everything seemed to point to what I needed being here.
I read the intro for the owner here and liked what he said - I'm here to gather more knowledge and make aquaintences. it'll be awhile before I can help others with bike stuff but I've tried to do more than my share on other boards with my other projects and help those I can, when I can.
All that being said, I don't know anything about bikes - zip - zero - I do know I have a 1973 Yamaha RD350 with 7100 miles on it. I've done a little tear down and familiarization with the carbs, intakes, cables, points, etc. Now it's time for some reading and making parts lists, identifying proper fluids, maintenance items and looking up any related tech bulletins
I haven't taken any pics as of yet but will post some when I can take some.

Thanks for the welcomes - now, I'm off and running. I think my first post is going to be, "How do I identify just exactly what I DO have?"... coming to a post near you soon.
Re: another hobby with motors!
A picture would help.
Put it up on photobucket or flicker and post a link here.
Does it have reeds or not
Doe it have drum or disc brakes up front.
whats stamped on the barrel.
Under the fins.

I've never done the photo bucket thing - guess it's time to try it
It does have reeds - 4 in each jug, 2 up - 2 down
I'm 90% sure it has disk on the front but now I have to go check (tomorrow)
Would "barrel" be the same as the jugs? I know the block is stamped 361-000216
Each carb is stamped 36A although they are different - one has a manual choke on it, the other, nothing.
Where would I be looking "under the fins"?
By the way, I really appreciate the interest given!

Yeah chk the Jugs under the fins.
Where they meet the crank case.
That will give you you the CC

I forgot to check the brakes but the engine is stamped 347cc - I posted this over in my other thread in the 2 stroke forum also (so I don't have to keep track in two places).

Welcome mate! Where in NC are you? I was in Charlotte for a little over a month and loved the weather and people there

I'm about 45 minutes East of Charolette - about midway between there and Raleigh. It sure beats the 35 years of shoveling snow on the canadian border! Been here 10 years now and I've shoveled twice (just to see if I could still do it and not like it - I was right on both accounts).
