RX125 New Zealand

Hi,

Just got my first bike last week, a Silver 1980 RX125.

Needs restoration but good condition overall for price.

I have been reading some of the forum and very impressed with the scene you have going on there.

The past week has been stripping down the bike, cleaning and searching the local wreckers for parts. So far so good!

Looking forward to my first ride sometime soon. Some parts are arriving next week.

Welcome and enjoy your stay over here, BTW this looks quite similer to RX's sold here apart from disc breaks and engine head, good luck for your restoration work, bike needs many missing parts.

What are the performance specs for this bike.
i.e. how much BHP at what RPM and what top speed.
Heard some stories.

Thanks for the welcome, looking forward to learning about this bike.

I have managed to source the following second hand parts:

- Seat (the one on the bike was from a Honda)
- Lock set (Steering, Ignition, Helmet, Petrol Cap)
- R/H side cover
- Rear light assembly including mounting bracket
- Petrol tank (the one on bike has large dent on top)
- Gasket set

The bike was originally from Australia and has the chassis/motor code 2A0. It appears to be associated with the RS125 released in the UK. I have been searching the net for specification data but information is scarce. This forum is the most informative that I have come across.

I plan to get her back into shape using original parts and then may look at some modifications.

I am quite fond of the BSA Lightning and think Yamaha took some styling cues from them.

I came across Chinoy Filter Filter website in Australia and they list a filter for the KX125:

Another project has come along. It is a Yamaha 1982 AG175 (4M3). They were mainly sold as agricultural bikes here in New Zealand & Australia for use on farms etc.

Two stroke 175. Engine looks like DT175.
