She BANGS!!!

Post by vivekjayasheel »

Finally got the minor stuff wrapped up last night and took her for a test-ride... HOLY FREAKING CHRIST ON A DRAGON is all I can say!!!

The li'l biatch feels like an LT on steroids, in the low end, it's getting VERY hard to resist the temptation to sample the upper echelons of the rev-band. After a nice 5-minute warmup early morning today, took the missus for a ride and her first words were "The ol' turkey has some giddyup now eh?"

Full review after run-in is complete, and another after I plug on the chambers. Going by the trailer though, I think the pipes would be overkill, I'm as happy as a stoned chimpanzee with whatever the bike is doing now.

Other notes:
One of the carbs was leaking, kinda funny for brand-new flatties, tapping it with the back of a screwdriver cured the problem. Stuck float-pin or something...

Running 5% oil and MASSIVE 280-sized jets on stock pipes, U-tube and Chinoy Filter pods. Smokes a bit but runs cleanly upto 4000 odd rpm (all that I had the guts to push her to).

I was expecting the engine to heat up a lot more than what it is doing right now. I dunno if it is the cool Pune winter (7 degrees Celsius at night) or the filthy rich jetting (no fouled plugs though) or something else. Timing is at 24 degrees.

I get the ring-a-ding-ding noise at startup and it goes away after 10 minutes of riding in traffic or half an hour of open-road cruising in 6th, at varying rpm.

Ron, you are the BESTEST 2-stroke guy out there... :sloppy: and this build is bringing you a LOT of good karma, I promise.

Many thanks to Ravikiran:
For patiently listening to my inane whining "I hope he gives me a build like yours"
For helping me procure parts from the US at short notice
For helping me in getting the final fitment of the brake done
For being a walking-talking RD / RZ parts database and knowing exactly what would be needed
For letting me ride his monster (still the fastest RD I've ever ridden) whenever I wanted to, so that I knew EXACTLY what I wanted

Many thanks to Sling:
For patiently directing me to the aluminum billet guy
For designing the caliper in AutoCad and taking me to the wire-cutter
For letting me ride his superb cafe-racer and helping me brace myself for the FULL BLAST of an RDD build

Many thanks to Rash:
For patiently assuring me "Whatever Ron gives you will rock, don't worry". Sometimes he'd ANSWER my calls with that line LOL
For explaining to me why the front caliper needs to be TIG or MIG welded (some fundas about fork-leg distortion)

Many thanks to Prakash, Ravi's mechanic:
For putting together everything with such care and single-minded attention
For urging me to do stuff that I was sometimes unsure about (like grinding off a few point mm off the barrel top of the head-gasket seat so that the gaskets could be torqued down adequately), stuff that I would have never thought of...

Glad you like it. If your so excited now. I fear the chambers will be un-useable. It will just keep flipping the bike.
So right away start working on a 16th front sprocket.
That is the only way to tame the beast.

I got all the good Karma I need what I dont have is MONEY. Just kiding. Though still waiting for business to take off.

Thanks for keeping the faith.

And tell that joker im still waiting for my apology for his 2000 microns hone claim.

So now you tell me whose in the matrix and whose not ?

I suggest you give anybody who has doubts about that a ride on the bike once the chambers are installed.
Ps: Try smaller jets
About the issue with your carbs. Quality for flaties has gone down 90% of the stuff entering the market is made in china. Sold the US and imported back.
But with so many part importers doing work now. Ive given up on educating or sharing info.

Im also taking a wild guess here but even the bikes mechs build in Pune would have started going faster. Next stage improving on my work.

Stop kidding man . Your bike is much better than my bike, ofcourse it is fastest now. After plugging the chambers its for sure that it will leave any other RD for dead.
Enjoy mate.

Not really. His only customers are kids who come to him with a shagged bike and 10,000 bucks for a full rebuild. Same story everywhere else. When they have to spend the BIG money, they all know where to go ;)
