Recently purchased a nice condition low-run 4 speeder RX. Enjoyed it as it is for 2-3 weeks. Then decided to fit the CDI & get the bike timed as step 1. Kept filters for step 2.
When I opened the CDI, my tiny brain couldn’t relate the wiring I saw to the one I thought it would have after reading the posts. Instead of trying to fit it and possibly blow it, I asked Rash for help. He was kind enough to take some time out for fitting the CDI and time the bike (stock timing was found to be 20 degrees). With my limited wrenching skills, all I could help him in was remove the seat and tank

Ran the bike with static timing for a week. The bike idled uniformly and felt very smooth.
Again I asked Rash for help advancing the timing the bike. Rash took all the pains to take out the drum, take out the plate and file the post to rotate the pulsar. I stood there trying to relate various things I had read on the forum about the full process. Rash was calm and patient while answering my dumb questions about almost everything. Thanks again to him.
The top speed more or less remained the same thanks to the 4 speed barrel that wouldn’t rev out much. So got the pipe de-carbed and baffles removed. Need to get a 5-speed barrel soon. But there was a solid improvement in low and mid range.
The bike is much more fun to ride in city traffic now. The front tends to lighten up so quickly and easily. I simply cant resist whacking the throttle open at every signal

Before fitting the CDI, the bike was vibrating like it would fall apart in pieces at high speeds and I wasn’t feeling confident taking corners. After fitting the CDI, vibrations seem to have gone. I feel much more comfortable at high speeds and cornering.
The recent ride to Lavasa was an absolutely charismatic experience. The bike felt very smooth and stress-free. RX was never so much of fun before.
Already started to take the bike to office regularly. The bike is so much fun that at times I just get off my chair in office and go for a short 15 mins spin

Thanks to Ron for creating such a great piece of engineering and showing us the capabilities of a tiny RX.
Thanks a ton to Rash for helping me and getting me started on wrenching.
Next step is to put the filter and jetting the bike. However dumb it may sound but I plan to give it a shot myself.
Also in the pipe-line are 5 speed barrel, gearbox and sprocketing as required.
I know all these facts about the RDD CDI are well-proven over the time again and again. But hey I wanted to share my experience as well.
