Hairo from Vancouver, WA: pipe manifold Thumbs UP!

Post by detonator »

Love Chinoy's pipe style intake manifolds. I have a set on my girlfriend's RD350.

I don't see why many people in the states try to make the RZ manifolds work by cutting the ears off....really bad idea and the bike runs like shiite.

All you have to do is pop in Ron's manifolds (perfect fit BTW) hook up a pipe and you are done.

some peeps like to do it the hard way I guess?

Welcome to RDD.
I can see somebody is still runing the old points setup [-X

Glad you like your new setup.
What most people dont get is that by cuting the ears off the RZ Manifold they are Totally totally totally bugering up their air flow.
Can you imagine whats happening to the air flow as it goes from the carbs to the manifold to the reed.
In fact I recomend this kit for the RZs. The ears act like reed stufers and the throtel responce is superb.
If you follow Bells formulae for carb area to manifold area to reed area then one must conclude Yamaha screwed up with the RZ manifolds.
You notice they fixed it with good reed stufing on the TZRs.
