RXG Digital II CDI Review
RXG Digital II CDI Review
Ya ya I know u folks have gotten bored of reading this thats why I am doing it really short.
Build Quality:*****
Ease Of Installation:*****
Installation Support:* (Ron's reply to questions to him "It has been discussed on the site a million times" I understand so didnt ask him again)
Results:*****
People involved in Install: Me, motorhead, rash, bike's owner(friend of mine), mech.
Got CDI. Bought NGK BPR8HS. Bough Original Activa caps from honda showroom.
Resistance on BP8HS:4.23kOhms
Resistance on Plug Cap:4.97kOhms.
Installed CDI, it was a piece of cake, just unplug old crap put in new CDI.
Boing, Bike has no battery, got a 9V batt n hooked it up.
Bike starts 2nd kick.
Take out the stator plate, measure the place, go to lathe drill over there.
Put it in, bike starts in 2nd kick again. Take out for spin and motorhead is yelling dont rev her, dont rev her, me being a throttle happy monkey controlled for 12seconds, then came a clear piece of road, and she went like a rocket, pulled hard, in second she was very lively, in third something felt wrong, bike cant rev so much man, but there was no end to it. Came back. motorhead went for a spin, back with grin on face.
Took the slide needle to richest position, and then went wacko, was pulling power wheelies in first, really long ones.
One thing i really noticed, after much revving and riding on redline too the bike was cold enuff to touch its head for pretty long time.
One helluva product Ron has made!!!
Only one prob with the CDI, it doesnt cure leaking gaskets, Ron you need to add that feature to it.
Observations: Bike revs to the moon, runs really cool, power is up maybe cuz of advance timing or complete burning of the fuel, whateva it rocks.
Special thanks to Rahul Shevde, motorhead, me(for test riding it).
Ron u getting extra porn from me for this.

RE: Digital II CDI Review
Thanks for the feed back man.
Curing leaking gaskets allready covered in the new version.
Next version will actually make parts.
There is a male cap and a female cap. You leave them alone over night play some soft music come back in the morning and you will find a new part
Just kiding man.
Glad you liked it.
If you stop pulling power wheeleis and ride decentlly you will see a huge increase in mileage. Even with the raised needle position.
Next game you need to play is see how much you can jet up.
The more gas you throw at her the more she will pull.
The best part for once Im siting on ready stock of RXG CDI units (Or are these the ones I have to send you?)
THanks for the feedback.
Ps: Now you have seen it for yourself.
Now you know why I smirk when certain tuners names come up who say the stock CDI is better than my CDI.

Cool stuff torque...
Having some real fun eh.
BTW how did professor Rash come into the picture.. he still in bombay ?
RE: Re: Digital II CDI Review
Hey thanks man tavish, its a freinds bike i am ripping about. Why dont u look me up a half decent bike u dimwit. Gave rash a call for some questions, so that was it.
Ron man Its a cool product and I really like it. Can you add another feature "a customisable shift light" on it??? Or if u could help me with a circuit for the same I will do it myself. There's a guy in lamington road in bombay who etches custom PCBs for 30 paise per sq. cm. but i cant find a circuit for a shift light anywhere.
Will a pulsar tacho work on this one or will it show twice the value???
If u recieve the payments for another cdi can you ship it immediately???

RE: Re: Digital II CDI Review
cant do it right away.
Within hours of your making this post all the units with me where picked up.
But I am doing a batch of 5 this month.
If you send in the payment I will put you down for one.
I need Ravi Kiran or some pune guy to send me the factory couplers.
Pulsar tacho should work man.
Ive just not tested it.
I will do a custom shift light for you but do you want the shift point programeable (Drive up costs huge). Or do you want it fixed.
Sort out that leaking head gasket and see how much better she pulls.
Its nice to see the new generation of Two stroke enthuaists figuring out how to use Digital CDIs, set timing etc. There is hope for india.

RE: Re: Digital II CDI Review
Its not a leaking head gasket, its an oil seal the one on the gear shift shaft, so engine oil was trickling out, she's pulling like crazy, maybe tomo will upjet it and do some stuff.
Shift light scene is like this.
Input frequency from CDI is compared to frequency from an oscillator and if CDI frequency is same or more, light goes on. Thing is we cant do a frequency comparison so we gotta use a frequency to voltage converter and then compare voltages, how much would a programmable shift light cost if its integrated with the CDI, and if we build it separately.
Check out the following links for the programmable shift light

RE: Re: Digital II CDI Review
Hi man I dont have the time to chk out the links.
My only advise.
1. Use the Tacho Signal output thats why we put it in there to make stuff like this simple.
2. We have the Pro CDI. Which is our top of the line unit. THe same PCB is used for
RXG / RD / RZ / TZR
It has functions like switching on and off air jet selunoids to the carbs, watter injection to the exhaust, programebale shift light, two stage rev limiter and hazar other features.
THe latest version also has option for total loss. i.e. You can power the spark off the coils and alternator or dump the alternator repalce it with a metal strip weighing 50 grams and use an external pulsar.
The juice for the spark will come from a Battrey. This is called total loss ignition.
It will out put a spark double the strength of the existing RXG / RD CDIs price is 300$ or 12K for indian customers.
This is the evolution of 3 years of work from our first Programeable CDIs.
And use the new Ferite cores.

Will start slogging my ass off again. Once I have the money I want one of those for Meself, hope you will do it for me and not think that I am a cutlet.
Appreciate your inputs and the way u deal with customer's like me who buy stuff not even having a bike.
Will send money for another normal CDI unit by tomorrow.

RE: Re: Digital II CDI Review
Well actually a lot and Im talking a LOT of guys buy our CDI kits for the RX / RD / etc without even having a bike.
They are scared I will discontinue production so they buy it and keep it.

Hi Ron,
I was one of them. bought the CDI much before I got the bike
will fit it one of these days and scan the before and after emission certis.
I know old story but more proof you have from customers the better, right??

RE: Re: Digital II CDI Review
You dont need those pics man, showing emmission thingies. You set the timing right and ride it and you wouldnt have to say anything to prove that it works. The thing is just awesome.

What is that cutlet CBR1000 wasting bandwith quoting your complete post for.
You quote somebody when you have a serious issue with something they have said.
You dont quote every post you respond to.
Come on dont tell me I have to start explaing these basics man.

Some more reports of the same:
Took the bike for a long ride, 100 odd kms. 85% of riding done on 60kph. Rest was raped ape mode, power wheelies and redline in first 3. Returned a mileage of 40+ kpl. Bike didnt heat to uncomfortable levels. Even when raped. Thats another * to the RDD Digital CDI.
I think anybody should buy the cdi even if they are runing stock bikes. Mileage goes up, power goes up and the bike runs so cool. What else does one want.
Great product RON.

Thanks man.
Its a pity that some petty minded people dont want to give it its due credit and run it down cause they dont have the IQ to understand Ignition maps on two strokes.
Mich less timing a bike.
THis is just how things work in India.
Thanks to my Foregin customers or this place would be dead by now.
And thanks to this new breed of Indian Enthuaist who is taking it to the next level in India.
