OOPS ...M late ...
People please forgive me for my ignorace ...everytime someone asked me to put my intro in place...i thought they meant putting some info on account screen ..well now when i have discovered the right place i guess i should introduse myself now...
Well ... my love with two wheels began when i bought my first bike in 9'th grade... KB 100 RTZ was my first machine .. bought it in 1994 ... rode that bike for like 5 years and then when i joined engieering bought an enfield too ...i wont call my self an automobile freak ...cuz i guess m not 'educated enuf' ..a true automobile freak is someone who knows about his machine in and out ...n there are like zillon things in automobiles which i m still unaware of...
My love with rd began when i first saw this piece of beauty in my first yr of engg ... well here i must introduse a very good pal of mine , who happened to my senior back at college , Gautam Chatterji ... He in true sense is automobile freak ... having sound knowledge of machines .. always brimming with insane ideas... have a good thrist of learning new things .... currently hes in Uk pursuing masters in automobiles...
so that bout him ,..guys he was the one who told me about rd (his bro had one) ...still remeber it a bright afternoon , in the month of september when this guy came and told me that there are like two rd's of civil defence parked at an office near hazratganj ! ...Man ..we were excited to see em for the first time ...they were beautiful ...thankfully they were parked in shade and though they had been there for some 9-10 odd years was little hint of rust ....we enquried if they were for auction but sadly we were turned down ...anyways we bought an enfield ..and made serveral trips ..the longest one being of 2800 kms in the hills of uttranchal ...every other month we used to enquire if they were up for auction ...but were turned down each time ... Finally we graduated and moved back to delhi ... Gautam still kept a track of those rds ..n used to check time to time if they were 'available' ...luckily ..exactly one yr after my engg was over ..we got to know that day has come ... we travelled back to lucknow and in an auction 'earned ' our beauties ..
We brought them back ...n after much fight with our landlord earned the permission to bring em in and reassemble em ...we restored those bikes completely at home... it was fun ...took us around 8 days to do one of em and another 10 for the second one ... Still remember the day when my bike fired for the first time ...God that was beautiful ... took her out for a ride ..and it was amazing .... cmmon give someone , who had been craving for more power for all those years ,a descent dose of power ...wont he be happy ?? ...
we earned our bikes ..waited log and patient for em ..and finally were riding em ...then made a few trips to nanital and shimla and agra...
Phew ...ol times ..i miss em ...
anywasy ...gautam is gone ..n i got involved lot more in my work....
m selling her off in few days ...the only good thing is that they guy m selling her to ...happens to be a student from mumbai(an rdd member) ... with the same zeal and enthu ... n i hope hel keep my baby well ....
Cheers
Abhi
