Holy Mother of GOD...Thanx Ron

Post by prathz79 »

Installed my Digital CDI, Chinoy Filter's and 240 jets on my RD yesterday with the help of Vivek Jayasheel...Cud feel the freakin difference as soon as she fired up....Man oh man was she pulling after that....Crisper throttle delivery... smoother acceleration....engine running much cooler....cud feel atleast a 30-40% increase in power....this is just awesome man...was burning Bombay roads yesterday night.... :D

One issue I had was that one of the engines wud shut down temporarily at higher RPM's in 6th gear....but as soon as I wud shift down she wud fire back again...and I am running her filthy rich too...running both the oil pump and 2t in the tank...and needle in the middle position...cud it be fouling the plugs????

Thanx Ron for such and awesome product and thanx Vivek for spending so much time with my bike yesterday....I owe u one

cheers

You're running non-genuine Pulsar plug caps man. When you have the time, get proper 5 K caps from an authorized yamaha / hero honda / honda showroom (original libero, karizma, activa caps would probably be 5 k).

Get the carb cleaned by a REAL mech, or better still figure out how to do it yourself. It is not rocket science. Get your float heights right and dont use those el-cheapo 80-rupee petrol taps.

One recommendation regarding the kit Ron.... is it possible to have longer kidney-shaped mounting-holes in the base plate with 2 numbers written on either side of the hole, one mentioning the max advance and one mentioning the least? E.g. the numbers could be 19 and 25 or something like that. I dont think most people in Bombay would have access to PROPER methods for setting the timing so atleast having a minimum and maximum number to play with, would keep them safe. The range of adjustment that we had on the plate was a bit TOO conservative; we had to file out the mounting hole a bit so that we could get the advance we needed.

Sounds like fuel stravation.
Balance the ammount of fuel in both float bowls.
Then exchange the tubes at the tap.
The non OEM taps have a bad habbit. Gas will only flow thru one hose at a time. WHen that carb gets full only then will fuel flow into the other carb.

Try this experiment keep both fuel exits at the same level and turn on the tap. See if both nozels are flowing the same ?

THanks for the kind words.
And to think at one time I had to defend my kit against jokers like Subodh and his CDI kit.
Which he goes arround telling people I coped from him.
Sheeh the pointless agrivation I have to deal with in my life.

Geting back on Topic.
Get a set of fresh plugs.
Put them in do some high speed blasting. Push the bike hard.
Then cut the ign pull in the clutch stop the bike and chk the plug color.

Yes 240 is too rich for a stock bike. But I have to play it safe.
Next try going one notch leaner on the needle.
If it works better and with the reults of your plug chop you can decide if you need to order new jets.

And give the kid a ride so he can see the diffirence the CDI makes.

CBR no sweat man. We dont make the RX CDIs anymore.
Simplly a case of no decent sales volume to justify making them.
Thats a close chapter.
Even the RD units are like last of the last batch.

Now going to focus on cars.

I guess if u work the numbers, wht ron is doing could be right...but it is sad though, :( . What can one expect in a country where some souls believe tht the CB points ignition was the best performance ignition system for the rd.

Initially i felt bad too when he refused my bike's porting.
But then, if he believes cars are better for him, we should support him.

How about we meet up today after you finish work and we play around with your carb and see what exactly is wrong?

@Ron Would it help if the float bowl is opened up and both the float pins are pressed together to see if they flow at the same time ?
