The fun never ends

Post by daredevil316 »

First of all,a big thanks to Ron for the porting job and the digital cdi. The setup just rocks and I can't stop having fun on my RXZ. Now i know how it feels to be 'LIVING LIFE AT THE RED LINE'. :D ....

Mine was a stock 5 speed Rxz that had clocked close to 35000 kms. I had dumped the stock cat con for the stock RXZ silencer with all the baffles removed from the muffler.
What i wanted was a fun peppy street bike. Didnt ask for anything more. i had a spare second hand 5 speed barrel with a standard bore. There were some seizure marks so Ron suggested we rebore it out to 2nd o/s.

Here's a small list of the stuff done on my bike:

1. 5 speed barrel street ported by Ron.
2. New 2'nd o/s O/E Yamaha pistons
3. RDD digital cdi.

Rest of it is completely stock. The run in has been completed. Thanks to CrazyD for doing most of the run in as i was out of town for a few days. It managed to touch 130+ on the speedo. Power band starts at 4000 rpm and revs out to 9000 rpm in the third gear. I couldnt believe my eyes when i saw the bike touch 9000 rpm. The throttle response has become crisp after installing the digital cdi. The digital cdi is just awesome. Can't wait to get my hands on the digital cdi for my rd.

I love to keep it in the power band always in the 3'rd and 4'th gears. Well, thats were all the fun of this setup lies.
Ron, thaks a lot once again for the setup and I'm having loads of fun riding in the city. :1syellow1:

Cheers

Thats what I was wondering... the RDD CDI (from what I've heard) will allow you to run a bigger than stock jet cos of the spark strength....

The gains in performance will be there wether you upjet or not.
There is no danger in runing without upjeting.

I dont want this to become a oh I dont want to install a RDD CDI cause I will have to upjet issue.

We have a country filled with anal retentive morons.
To whom jeting is allmost a dirty word.

THe only time I recomend upjeting is with changes to the air filter or instalation of a "Performance" Exhaust. Or very radical porting.

THe stock jeting with the stock air filter is not a problem at any RPM.
So by all means go to larger jets if what you lust after is POWER. But if your happy with the increase in power without upjeting keep it like that.

I read some absurd posts like isnt the ABC jeting lean on stock jets etc.

Install the CDI it burns all the fuel. Power goes up. Mileage goes up. End of story.

You want more power your want to "Tune" then thats a seprate issue.

She is running fine on 135 and the power band is really awesome for a mild street port....

Sorry accidently posted half above...where the hell is the edit button sometimes it just disappears!

Ron, we will be trying out some jetting changes....she is running on 135 with the needle in the richest position...have already bought 165s and will be trying the upjetting...maybe some mods to the air box also...

I have to tell you that converting to CDI will involve just no change in jetting unless you are want more and more power....

I was having the bike for a long time and actually run in it....The running in was really a quick affair...with the bore becoming free almost after 500 kms....then it was just tasting the sweet power band here and there.....

Blown away by the street port...power comes in at 4K and pull all the way to 9K +. its a strong pull and nice fun in the city...took it out to the outer ring road and maxed it out to 130 + on the speedo......that was before the CDI...have not checked iwth the CDI....the porting itself makes a huge difference if you ask me...the CDI is like the icing on the cake....

Hey DD enjoy man...maybe time to look at some more mods eh? ;)

@bikelover: Yeah it sure is.
Running on 165 mains now. Its running much better now. No sputtering in the lower rpms also.
I don't mind more power  but i'm more than happy with the way she runs. Thanks to Ron once again.
